"We can't say enough good about the Rock! The views, the scenery, the tons of things to do on this property alone could keep you here for weeks. We are looking forward to a return visit. The cabin was cozy, the fishing was great, nice evening camp fires both by the water and cabin, grilled & soaked in the hot tub every day, took naps and ate our meals in the sleeping porch. Even saw Turkey. A great place to kick back relax and enjoy nature. So much of the 200 acres we didn't get to explore but plan on next time. Atv in the canyon, the shooting range and inner tubing are next on our list. Read all the reviews. Looks like lots of memories made here. We are glad we chose this location for our wedding. And the pictures are sure to turn out amazing! Jeff was quite accommodating especially prepping the grounds knowing we were getting married here. The cabin had everything in it you would need. Even the wild flowers came thru for us and made for a perfect bouquet. This is now a special place for us. One we will visit for years to come!"

"What a great place to relax and get away from it all! Very well stocked with whatever you need. We had the best time just relaxing by the river. Even though the river was really low we did manage to kayak a bit. Too bad we couldn't go together but only one kayak paddle. I'm sure it was just an oversight not a big deal. All in all a nice place and would love to go back. First trip with our dog and it was nice. Comment to other dog owners who stay... Clean up after your dogs. Don't leave for the owner or the next guest.
Looking forward to coming back sometime."

"This was our 3rd one week stay at Gooney Lodge over a 4-year period, and, as always, a fantastic and memorable experience. It isn't often that one gets to stay in such a historic, exceptionally maintained vacation property. The owners and their caretakers make every effort to ensure that your stay is both trouble free, and delightful. From the home baked muffins upon our arrival to the thoughtful collection of memorabilia about the lodge and the area, we can't say enough about how enjoyable our stays have been. There is something for all ages, whether it's wading in Gooney Creek, playing croquet, or simply relaxing on the amply furnished porch while soaking in the beautiful fauna & wildlife. We truly feel privileged to have stayed at this extremely well maintained, and picturesque home. We highly recommend going horseback riding at Royal Horseshoe Farm, taking in the Front Royal Civil War Museum, and, of course, Shenandoah National Park, all of which are short drives away. Our only regret is having to wait four years for our next child to graduate from Christendom College to stay here again!"
