"We got snowed in lodge for a full 24+ hours and loved it! Thanks to Sara the owner responding quickly to me for us to check in and extend our stay a day early before snow moved in. Great family time together cooking, playing games , and hanging out by the living room fireplace watching the snow come down for my birthday. We look forward to our next stay at the lodge for JMU graduation weekend!"

"I recently stayed at Gooney lodge and I couldn't say enough good things about this place. It was close enough to DC to not spend hours on the highway, but also remote enough that we felt like we were truly escaping. The lodge is very charming and I loved sitting on the front porch enjoying the sounds of the creek. I would go back any time. It was a wonderful experience to truly unplug for the weekend. No cell service was a blessing!"

"We were travelling back to Williamsburg from Indiana and were looking for something secluded but also close to Luray Caverns and Skyline Drive. We were able to schedule a last minute mini vacation at the cabin and it was everything we were looking for. The owners were very accommodating and the cabin was very comfortable (I couldn't get my grandson off of the very large bean bag chair. We couldn't see or hear anything except for trees and water.
It is a cabin and not a hotel so don't expect perfection as the cabin water did have a sulfur smell but overall it was great place for a vacation. It was well furnished and had the extras to make it comfortable. My grandson was happy that he didn't have to live without the internet or DirecTV in the evenings when we were done touring and canoeing. We hope to return again soon for a longer time period and spend more time relaxing and less touring."

"Peaceful, quiet location. Three miles from Route 81 but total privacy. Convenient to shopping. Owner has the home extremely well prepared for your stay . The road the home is located on excellent for walking, little in the way of traffic. A winery within walking distance, less than 1 mile away. Beautiful countryside.
Nearby hiking in National Forest, one example Wolf Gap on the Virginia/West Virginia border, directions: Conicville Road to Route 42, north on 42 to Columbia Furnace, left on Route 675 west in Columbia Furnace, follow 675 to top of mountain, Wolf Gap Recreation Area.. Tibbets Knob trail a short hike to views of the valley below."
