"It will be hard to make this brief. Mitch and Bobbie genuinely love people and they love this cabin. That is reflected in your experience here. The homemade box of cookies upon arrival was such a treat and the cabin was spotless and decorated beautifully. We had everything we needed so it was very much like being at home. I even cooked 3 meals while I was there (2 from scratch) and had every size of cookware, dish and utensil that I might need. Our favorite place in the house is the Dining/Sleeping Porch (including my 173 lb Mastiff who couldn't get enough of the view). We ate all our meals there and I'll never forget eating lunch while watching a deer drink from the creek. The little trails around the property are just perfect for short walks with the dog. Oh and they have a Cornhole set in the yard. That was a pleasant surprise for us since we love that game. If you stay here DO NOT miss out on hiking the "Roaring Run Furnace trail" just a short drive away. It was better and prettier than anything we could have paid to do. I recommend taking the "Streamside" trail to the waterfall and the "Woodland" trail on the way back. Our photos from that trail walk are just magical, especially with all of the brightly fall colored leaves. Mitch and Bobbie, thank you so much for letting us and our ginormous dog stay in your beautiful cabin and for being so informative and helpful. God bless!"

"We have stayed at Serene House twice now and can not imagine a more perfect place to spend time in Shenandoah Valley. Although it is in a community, the houses are situated so you really feel completely private as though you are alone in the woods. Sitting on the large deck looking out at the trees and mountains is just beautiful We appreciate the fully equipped kitchen which is set up perfectly to allow any cooking endeavors you may wish. The house is always spotlessly clean and fresh when we arrive, the linens and towels are wonderful quality, the beds are so comfortable, and sitting by the fire after a day of exploring the area with a book or a glass of wine can not be beat. We don't have children, but the bedroom decorated in Winnie the Pooh would be so much fun for kids..we have had adult guests who loved it! Our dog loves the yard...we live in an area she can not be off leash, so the freedom of the huge fenced in yard is a real treat for her. We come for extended stays..three or four weeks, and I can honestly say we have come to love this house as our own and think of it as our second home. Convenient to all local sights and attractions, wonderful restaurants and wineries, do not hesitate to reserve some time here, you will never regret this choice."

"We were travelling back to Williamsburg from Indiana and were looking for something secluded but also close to Luray Caverns and Skyline Drive. We were able to schedule a last minute mini vacation at the cabin and it was everything we were looking for. The owners were very accommodating and the cabin was very comfortable (I couldn't get my grandson off of the very large bean bag chair. We couldn't see or hear anything except for trees and water.
It is a cabin and not a hotel so don't expect perfection as the cabin water did have a sulfur smell but overall it was great place for a vacation. It was well furnished and had the extras to make it comfortable. My grandson was happy that he didn't have to live without the internet or DirecTV in the evenings when we were done touring and canoeing. We hope to return again soon for a longer time period and spend more time relaxing and less touring."

"Our group of 3 couples rented this house for a weekend in Feb and the property was a perfect fit. The bedrooms were all extremely comfortable and offered us the privacy we wanted, while the kitchen, dining room, and other living spaces were great for hanging out. The owner has done a fantastic job restoring the property - tastefully decorated and extremely well equipped. The location of the property was also excellent - we never had to fight for parking when going to dinner or breakfast. Everything, including W&L, was within walking distance. Definitely the best rental in Lex. I look forward to booking again the next time I visit."
