  • Everything We Needed but BETTER !

""Loved staying at this beautiful home. Our family enjoyed sitting on the front porch. There's a table to eat at one end and comfy wicker furniture + rocking chair at the other end -- really great! We liked the fact that the bedrooms are so very large and the queen beds are very comfortable. We'll definitely be back.""

  • Spectacular View - Spotless Accommodations - Private

"Charming home on the best piece of real estate I've ever seen in the Lexington area. The minute you arrive, you know you're at the perfect place to relax. Nice landscaping, fantastic deck, great front porch, well appointed kitchen, flat screen TVs w/DIrect TV service, and tasteful's all good. Amazing that all of this is only 2 miles from downtown Lexington. The only minor drawbacks to this property are lack of WIFI and a relatively steep gravel driveway that might be a bit of a challenge for some."

  • Wonderful Family Vacation.

"The cabin was everything we expected and more. It was well furnished and spacious and had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. We enjoyed many mornings and evenings out on the deck listening to the sounds of nature and taking in the splendid views. We had a very small issue while staying at the cabin which was resolved immediately. We explored Luray caverns, Shenandoah national park, Lake Arrowhead, and splashed about in the Shenandoah River. The cabin seemed secluded and provided a great base to explore. We would definitely recommend The Bear's Den."

  • Getaway with 16 year old grandson

"This past week I spent four days in Mountain Whisper with my 16 year old grandson. He is high functioning asperger. We were quite pleased with our experience. The cabin was an excellent base camp as we fished, took the Luray Cavern tour, hiked, and found isolated areas to teach him how to shoot using my pellet rifle. Shenandoah River Outfitters is just down the hill from the cabin and the variety of their rentals should support most desires to spend time on the river. The cabin was immaculate when we arrived and the kitchen was very well stocked with eating and cooking utensils. It was not what I would have expected in a cabin - the appliances were in excellent condition - well honestly, i don't know if the stove worked because as two guys we didn't cook much indoors, but the microwave and refrigerator were excellent. I have seen several reviews on various sites commenting on the bed being only "full" size. The smaller of the 3 bedrooms has a full size bed but the other beds are definitely queen size. I rate my experience as 5 stars, not because it is the best cabin I have ever stayed in but because the cabin was exactly what my grandson and I needed and it met all expectations based on the various website descriptions. My grandson was especially happy having civilization (Walmart) relatively close by and he would recommend MIndi's for their chips and salsa. Jim D."
