"The Gooney Lodge is the perfect quiet get away with its peaceful location but proximity to the amenities you may want. We felt at home from the minute we walked in and the homemade treats left for us only helped that feeling. The house is set up so that multiple couples and families are comfortable with lots of room to spread out and relax. At the house you can cozy up to the fire or sit outside and enjoy the sounds of the creek. There are lots of games to keep you entertained or you can browse through the various albums on the history of the lodge. There is a winery in walking distance, quaint Browntown just down the road, and the stores & restaurants of Front Royal nearby. You sit in the shadow of Shenandoah National Park and can hop on Skyline Drive in mere minutes. We will definitely be looking for another opportunity to visit this amazing place!"

"This unit was clean and well kept.with the beds being exceptionally comfortable. The view was fantastic and we had the perfect viewing area to see the Fourth of July fireworks! We tried geocaching and it was definitely a memorable experience! Overall. the resort would be better suited to families with young children. However, dinner was great with exceptional service to detail."

"My husband and I spent a week at the Chalet in August and loved it!! It is relaxing, peaceful, and a great place to have a vacation. The mountain view was awesome and waking up to the sunrise every morning was incredible. We enjoyed sitting in the screened-in porch every morning having our coffee. This cabin has every comfort you could imagine, including a flat screen t.v., central air-conditioning, and Wi-Fi. Sitting on the deck while staring at the mountain view was where we spent most of our time when at the cabin, and thoroughly enjoyed the 4-person Jacuzzi every night after a day of sight-seeing. This cabin is only about 15-20 minutes from Luray Caverns and Skyline Drive, but is your own private paradise nestled in the woods. What makes the Chalet really great are all of the little extras that the owners graciously provide that make the Chalet feel like home, including the homemade cookies that were a nice surprise and were delicious! We loved reading the Journals where past guests left messages and the photo book which shows the building of the Chalet. We would recommend the Chalet to anyone and have done so to all of our friends and family. We didn't want to leave, but will definitely be back!!"

"We went for a short work retreat the cabin was in excellent condition very little wear and tear (Front screen door was broken and would not shut). The owners didn't do a drive by pop up like a few other owners which I did not like immensely. The owners has provided quite a few regularly needed kitchenware which is a huge plus. They provided DVD's a plenty and the fire place (although gas) put out some heat and was a nice amenity. The kitchen was very spacious and the master bedroom & master bath was wonderful and the games and game room was a very nice distraction. The river was a in site but it was to wet and muddy to walk it, although I sure it would be very nice in the summer. The only negative I can think of was the lack of a charcoal grill and we are required to take our trash to the dump which is closed on sundays which happened to be the we checked out and therefore as a sign in the cabin requested had to leave $5 to have the trash removed by the cleaning company, not a big deal really it was just out of place in relation to the great service the cabin was set to provide. GREAT place and we will return.....with a portable charcoal grill :)"
