  • We have started a new tradition!

"Exactly as promised! The Nut House was wonderful!!! We live in NC and my in-laws live in NYC, this was our happy median. The house had everything we needed. I love to cook and found everything I could ever need for my culinary creations. I was in bowl heaven! Bowls in every color and size imaginable. The house was super clean and well arranged. If you are blessed with sun on the day you arrive brace yourself to be greeted by an amazingly bright, beautiful and open home. The little one (under 2) loved the space and had her run of the house. She was fascinated by the huge wall to wall windows. My very hard to please mother-in-law loved everything and was pleased that it was so well stocked. I love the multiple seating areas that allowed me to breakoff and enjoy some 1:1 time with my sister-in-law without the boys w/ plenty of wine. The hot tub was great ( I recommend you turn the heat up at least an hour before you plan on using it). My personal haven was the deck – perfect for my morning coffee and my late night tea – the brook behind the house was an extra perk. We had plenty of bedding and extras in the closet. I do recommend some extra towels if you plan on using the hot tub we forgot ours and had to run an extra load. This was our first of many trips to the Nut House. We have started a new tradition! -- The only issue (really a non-issue) was that only the upper left side of the grill was hot enough to cook on – but we made it work and enjoyed some amazing ribeye’s (in shifts). We had an amazing, stress free and very relaxed weekend!!! The owner is wonderful to work with. -- Thank You!!"

  • This house has become our "home-away-from-home"

"We have stayed at Serene House twice now and can not imagine a more perfect place to spend time in Shenandoah Valley. Although it is in a community, the houses are situated so you really feel completely private as though you are alone in the woods. Sitting on the large deck looking out at the trees and mountains is just beautiful We appreciate the fully equipped kitchen which is set up perfectly to allow any cooking endeavors you may wish. The house is always spotlessly clean and fresh when we arrive, the linens and towels are wonderful quality, the beds are so comfortable, and sitting by the fire after a day of exploring the area with a book or a glass of wine can not be beat. We don't have children, but the bedroom decorated in Winnie the Pooh would be so much fun for kids..we have had adult guests who loved it! Our dog loves the yard...we live in an area she can not be off leash, so the freedom of the huge fenced in yard is a real treat for her. We come for extended stays..three or four weeks, and I can honestly say we have come to love this house as our own and think of it as our second home. Convenient to all local sights and attractions, wonderful restaurants and wineries, do not hesitate to reserve some time here, you will never regret this choice."

  • An amazing retreat!

"I would defiantly recommend The Carriage House for a retreat from stress and work or for a romantic getaway. We loved the house, loved the farm and loved the animals. All the way around wonderful from great views of the sunrise in the morning to peace and quiet throughout the night."

  • THE Retreat!

"Simply great! If you are looking for a perfect, almost luxurious cabin in the Jefferson National Forest with an amazing wild river in your backyard, book THIS one! We had such a great time, saw otters, beaver, snakes and tons of deer and other wildlife. Secluded, with an absolutely gorgeous landscape around, this cabin offers everything for me as an outdoor enthusiasts - our dog loved it and learned to swim in strong currents. I went biking 8 days out of 10 in Roanoke (Carvin's Cove trails) which is about 45 minutes to drive. Trails there are among the best on the whole East Coast, so we plan to come again and can only recommend it for everyone loving the outdoors."
