  • Magical Birthday Weekend

"I wanted to have a fun, yet relaxing birthday weekend on the beach. I love Kalaloch beach but hate the awful cabins that are the only place to stay other than camping and as you probably have guessed by now, I hate camping. So I googled "beach houses on the Olympic Peninsula" and found a few great looking houses near Moclips. I emailed everyone and the owner of the Moonstone was the first to respond. I liked the pictures of the house online, it was on the beach, had a hot tub and a very similar name to my sail boat so I though why not? As the date of my birthday weekend came closer I began to worry...what if the house was dirty, or small or what if the owner got the dates wrong and we had to share with ANOTHER BIRTHDAY!? my anxiety proved wasteful as we arrived and got our keys from a gentleman at the Moonstone Motel located next door, he was delightful, put us at ease and gave us great tips about unpacking the car, etc. When we arrived at the Moonstone Beach House I was astonished at how it matched the online pictures. It was large, but also cozy, clean and for lack of a better word, perfect. We had a wonderful time hiking near and on the beach, watching the sea from our deck, sitting in the hot tub and making meals in the ample kitchen. It truly was a magical birthday weekend."

  • Shhh, don't tell anyone how awesome this place is

"For the last 6 years we have been bring our growing family to Moclips and have stayed at 4 total places. By far Sandcastle more is #1. I have viewed other homes while in the area and can't find one to replace it. It's settled, we will be staying at SMC again in 2015"

  • Cozy cabin!

"This was our second time renting this cabin and it couldn't have been better. You walk right out the door and onto the beach - view from kitchen and bedroom loft. Great weather was a bonus!"

  • Fantastic home in a perfect location

"My family (girls only on this trip :) ) rented this house in March 2014 and absolutely loved it. There were 6 of us and there were more than enough beds for all of us. All of the beds were very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked (it's even better stocked now, since we left an extra garlic press behind that we didn't need). The best parts of the home are the view and location. The view is unprecedented. The many windows take advantage of this, although some blinds in the living room would be nice. It's very difficult to see the television near sundown. The home is right on the beach and provides for amazing walks on the sand and in the forest with some gorgeous trees (turn right when you leave the house and follow the river - you might have to climb over some logs, but it is worth it). The game room wasn't ready when we stayed, however I'm not sure we would have used it since it is separated from the house. The only negatives (and they are very minor) - the floors are very obviously fake wood, which was noticeable to me immediately upon entering the house. Also, the countertops are formica, or something similar. The rest of the house is high-end, so it would have been nice to have real wood floors and nicer countertops (maybe not granite, but perhaps quartz or something similar). These things just seemed out of place. Most (all?) bedrooms had tvs and the tv in the living room is a "smart tv" and is connected to DirectTV, although it wasn't setup for internet. I was able to get it to the connect to the wireless network (which offered pretty fast speeds) and login to my hulu-plus account. It would have been nice to have a stereo in the kitchen/dining area. Overall, the house is fantastic. We loved it and will definitely consider going back in the future. We highly recommend it to others."

Moclips Travel Tips

What could be more relaxing than enjoying the sunsets from Moclips vacation home? As your family enjoys the space and privacy, they'll be amazed at the little luxuries that come along with the rest. Depending on your choice of cabins, your home could include a private hot tub, an ocean-front setting or expansive grounds. The only bad part is that your family may never want to return home.

The Beaches Near Moclips

The beaches could be just steps from the door. However, if you chose to stay in town or you tire of your private beach, simply take a short trip down the road to the Griffiths-Priday State Park or Copalis Beach for a different view.

Visit an Authentic Indian Reservation

During your stay in the Olympic Peninsula, take a short trip to the Quinault Indian Nation.
