  • Fantastic Vacation

"We (me, my wife, and 2 daughters) rented the Compass Rose for 8 nights and used it as a central base to explore the peninsula. It was fantastic. My kids enjoyed running around the property, catching fish in the pond, and enjoying outdoor bon-fires. The Compass Rose was extremely clean and had everything we needed, plus more. We ended most days in the hot tub watching the sun slowly disappear. It was very private and exactly what we were looking for. Suzanne checked in twice to be sure everything was okay. Great property, great vacation."

  • The best place for a getaway

"The home is really nice and comfortable, the views are amazing. We thouroughly enjoyed our stay, couldn't pick a better spot to just relax on the coast and take lots of walks along the beach. I agree with the below reviewer that another mirror would be nice. The home is clean, well-maintained and was well-stocked with everything we needed. The bed was very comfortable. Wifi was much appreciated. Thank you!!"

  • Beautiful, peaceful, comfortable retreat

"The Pond Cottage could not have been more comfortable or beautiful! This was our last stop on a two week tour of the Northwest. As travel-weary as we were, how refreshing to step in the door of this peaceful little retreat. The home is set in a picturesque meadow surrounded by trees, and the home design -- with LOTS of windows and a wrap-around porch -- allows you to enjoy the beauty indoors and out. We appreciated the well-organized, fully equipped kitchen; the comfortable beds in the loft and downstairs; and a bathroom much more spacious than we expected in such a cozy cottage. It was a great place to enjoy the long, bright evening of the summer solstice. Suzann was a wonderful host; she always responded promptly to our questions, and she even left a plate of delicious brownies for our arrival. We would definitely choose the Pond Cottage again if we traveled back to the Olympic Peninsula."

  • A Home Away From Home

"We spent a week at the end of July. With three bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms, it was fine for a couple and visiting adult children. The extra half bathroom made it manageable for five people. The house is well-stocked, including a starter supply of paper products and ample gas for the large grill. We quickly became comfortable and felt at home. I wondered before our arrival about the condition of a house that has been rented for at least six years, but was pleased to find that the house and its furnishings were in very good shape. It's obvious that the owner keeps up with maintenance. There is a fenced garden on two sides of the house where we enjoyed breakfasts under the patio table umbrella. It's a pleasant area, especially when yards are parched by mid-summer heat. If you like to walk for exercise, the house is within walking distance of a Safeway, Bank of America branch with ATM, Post Office, AM/PM mini-mart, and waterfront area with Victoria ferry terminal and multiple restaurants. Besides enjoying the natural sights near Port Angeles and westwards, we would also encourage a visit to Port Townsend and at least one of the Cideries nearby. We can recommend the tasting at Finnriver. The property owner was a pleasure to work with. She was available by phone or email prior to our arrival and was present when we arrived so that she could explain the workings of the house. There are also written instructions. She did not initiate contact during our stay, but quickly responded to two questions. She even arranged for perfect weather every day! The security deposit was returned promptly afterwards, in half the time allowed by the lease."
