  • I don't want to leave!

"Where to start? This was my first time using a vacation home in lieu of a hotel and I am so glad I did this one. As I write this I am half way into my stay at the Martha Lake house and I am absolutely enjoying every moment of it. Martha is oh so accommodating and by far an outstanding hostess. The house was ready for us after our long journey to Seattle. One person said the images do not do it justice and they are right, Martha has taken the time to put updates into this home. It doesn't matter if you are here for the rugged beauty of the Cascades, which are nearby, the easy access to the edmonds/kingston ferry and Seattle, this house is perfect. Nestled among tall trees in a quiet neighborhood, you would be tempted at times to think you are in the woods and not a few miles off of the 5. My family has taken advantage of the amenities here and we kayaked on Martha lake, lounged by a fire, it was tempting to bypass all that the area has to offer because the house is so comfy. But I could go on and on about the house. I want to talk about the hostess. What an amazing woman! When you rent this home proceeds go to her horse rescue farm, which would have been enough to have me rent right there, but Martha is a chipper and lovely woman, who by our conversations, really appreciates the people who stay in her home. She has a personality that seems to be almost lost in this world these days. Kind, compassionate and wonderful. When you put that together with this great home. You should have absolutely no problem feeling at home here. I'll update my review once I've completed my stay..But as of this moment, I will be returning to the Martha Lake house again and again. Thank you Martha!"

  • Fabulous Beach Vacation!

"We really enjoyed our time at your fabulous home! From the moment we got there the city tensions left us all and we felt comfortable immediately. The view can not be beat from the full length picture windows on the front and side of the house! We really were in awe of how peaceful it was. The house is very well equipped with everything you need for a get away. The beds were comfortable and the layout of the house was great for our family. We spent most of our time on the deck and the fantastic beach! We began our mornings with coffee on the deck and ended it with s'mores at the fire pit. I am still amazed at how quiet it was. The kids loved the swing set and we found a full playground just a few minutes away. I would go back and stay at the Fosso home in a heartbeat and so would everyone who joined us. Thank you!"

  • So happy and comfortable it was hard to leave

"We are so happy and comfortable in this cottage that I don't think we will be able to leave. We have stayed at a lot of rentals in the U.S. (including two pleasant rentals on Vashon) and in France, where our work has taken us. We have never been happier or more comfortable than we have been here. The house is so welcoming. Paris and the great forests of Provence have their charms, but this feels like home. We wake up early in the morning, cuddle up on the window seat and watch the light change on the water and the ferry glide back and forth. Yesterday we saw two bald eagles playing their tricks. These two were quarreling over a fish, which they carried off over the house. The hummingbirds seldom leave; they are so close that we've been able to show our grandchildren the minute working of their throats as they get their tongues through their beaks into the feeder flowers, the difference in male and female markings and the territorial behaviors of the males. It's like being in a bird blind, except it's warm and cozy and we don't have to wear waders. The owners have obviously made so many ingenious (and labor-intensive!) modifications to the house, without changing its wonderful historic cabin charm. We have everything we could possibly need and everything works well. Thanks so much for all of the hard work. We're having such a happy and relaxing time. This home has given us a wonderful holiday."
