  • loved loved this house!

"We stayed here the week of Thanksgiving and it was a perfect home base for a week. Our son and his girlfriend joined us for the week and this house was perfect. We made Thanksgiving dinner and had everything we needed to cook a wonderful dinner. The beds were very comfy and having an extra queen bed in the master was perfect for our 3 year old. We loved driving around the island and seeing the beautiful island and surrounding area. Do make sure you check the ferry schedule we had one issue as they take reservations for Coupville/Portownsend and was unable to get on 2 ferrys in one outing so we got a refund and went into town where I found some wonderful gifts, so for us still ended up having a wonderful day! The owner responds very quickly and was always nice to deal with."

"The Ranvik beach house is a wonderful place to visit. For us city-dwellers, stepping into the entryway is like opening a door into a different world. Looking into the well-appointed kitchen/living room, and then opening the blinds for the windows overlooking the beach completes the transformation. The house blends elements of traditional and modern architecture in a pleasing way, and the white color scheme with wood paneling has a very Scandinavian feel. The kitchen is well stocked with coffee, a good array of spices, and basic dry staples. The cookware selection is fairly extensive and of high quality. There is plenty of activity to see from the deck and beach. There was a near-continuous presence of waterfowl bobbing and diving in the water. We had multiple bald eagles flying by over the course of the day, sometimes at roof-level or lower with plenty of opportunity for photos. We even had a swimming deer haul out of the water in front of the house. There was extensive shipping traffic to watch, and the waves from the ships make for lovely crashing waves. With calm seas and still air, you can easily hear a loon's call from afar and the low rumble of ships across the water. It is at least worth noting that we experienced quite a bit of activity from the Naval Outlying Field Coupeville. The EA-18G aircraft repeatedly fly over the house at a relatively low altitude while practicing touch and gos. The peak noise level of each pass is relatively short, but it can be quite loud (in the 95-105dB range according to my iPhone sound meter). Flights occurred on 4 of the 5 weekdays we were there, and on one night went a little past 9:30 PM. The week by week schedule (somewhat vague and subject to change) can be found here: http://www.cnic.navy.mil/regions/cnrnw/installations/nas_whidbey_island.html We found the practices to be interesting, and I had a great time practicing my telephoto lens camera skills. It won't stop us from coming back, but if a couple hours of loud planes will really ruin your day, you might want to look for a different area to stay."

  • Beach Cottage

"Everything met our expectations. The beach house has everything you need and the location is very peaceful and convenient. The view is lovely although the beach is quite rocky. The gas fireplace kept us very comfy in the evenings. Thanks for sharing."

  • Super place to stay

"This condo is one of the best we've ever rented. From the décor, to the nicely equipped kitchen, to the well-stocked supplies, this place is top notch. When we arrived, we found Kleenex in dispensers, plenty of toilet tissue, dish detergent, dishwashing liquid, laundry detergent, and even Shout for stain removal. Sunrise, when clear, is an awesome event! Bedding is beautiful and very comfortable. Plenty of room for the three of us, and even enough space to entertain our extended family. The living space comfortably fit 7 adults and two small children for "Game Day." My only issue was the noise from busy Route 3, however, the noise does not prevent a quiet night's sleep. I would definitely rent this place again. Thank you, Rosanne."
