  • Perfect little retreat

"We arrived with the rain and drizzle of fall. This was to be expected. I'd love to return in the summer when we'd be better able to enjoy the boats. We took walks in the woods and I walked around the loop. The deck was perfect for a glass of wine and a good book. Or, if the weather was more accommodating, lunch and dinner. The cottage (more a cottage than a cabin) is beautifully appointed and immaculately clean. It is also full of personality. The kitchen is the very best equipped kitchen of any VRBO rental I've ever been in and everything was attractive and in perfect working order and, again, immaculately clean. It was a wonderful treat and sight for sore eyes for weary and hungry travelers to find the welcome basket of salmon, cheese and crackers, cookies, and wine on the counter. Anything you could need in the way of laundry supplies--even basic cooking supplies were there. No need to run to the store to buy detergent or paper products or salt and pepper or more. The beds were perfect. Views spectacular. Even with the less than perfect weather, there were boats going past daily. I loved the cute little hobbit doors--especially the Dutch Door entry. The only downside is the steep climb up and down front the parking area. When Erin says "steps" she means stairs. We got good at it, though--but it's best to be prepared that carrying luggage and groceries in will be a bit more difficult than you may have expected and to plan accordingly. Another disappointment was the lack of good eating establishments on the island. If they were there, we didn't find them. I have to say, though, that Zombie's burger was one of the best I've ever eaten, so don't let the weird name keep you away. I'd expected lots of opportunities to indulge in fresh seafood--but no. If there's a seafood restaurant, it was hidden away somewhere. If I'd been in the mood for cooking, there was a plentiful supply of organic veggies etc everywhere you looked. It's very easy to get to the ferry and back to the mainland if you want to, but we got Island Happy and didn't want to leave. We took one trip back to meet friends and couldn't wait to get back to our island. We could have taken the ferry to Seattle and eaten seafood--but it was easier to just stay put and enjoy the beauty of Vashon. Erin was extremely helpful and considerate in all our dealings and with last minute changes of itinerary etc. You couldn't ask for a more helpful hostess. First class!"

  • The best we have stayed at!!!

"My wife and I have stayed at least a dozen or more VRBO rentals on Whidbey and other Washington and Oregon beaches, and have never been at a better, well equiped, cleaner cabin. The view is to die for, we saw an Aircraft Carrier, a Submarine, and countless ships, large and small. I HIGHLY recommend this cabin for all, you will not be disappointed!!"

  • Perfect for our group of eight.

"We LOVED this place! Yes - the floors were tilted and there were little things here and there but we felt it all added to the charm. It is, after all, over a hundred years old. It was very clean and very well stocked - everything we needed. Because we had competitors in the Lake Stevens half ironman, it was the perfect location - just minutes from the start and finish of the race. Jennifer was wonderful - made sure we had enough propane for the grill, asked if we needed anything else. Very helpful and accommodating without being intrusive. We would highly recommend this little gem."

  • Even better than expected!

"As we entered the gated driveway and made our way up to the house, we were amazed by the scenery and the grounds. This was a perfect getaway for a family during a very busy family wedding weekend. Plenty of room to be by yourself, yet have an intimate dinner for 14. Loved the grounds and the wildlife as well. The house had just about every amenity needed (some complained about no TV or Internet) but we had a fun time with out them."
