  • Perfection...with a veranda to die for.

"Wow! In fact I'll double down with another Wow! Our family just finished a six day stay at The Cedar Cove Inn. Let me put it this way. If the entire state of Iowa was paved with asphalt with the Cedar Cove Inn sitting alone in the middle it would still be worth staying at because the house is so amazing, so beautiful and the proprietors so kind and gracious. Of course it sits majestically overlooking Puget Sound. Now to practical points that will be of use to people. We experienced Cedar Cove as a family compound but it's a bed@breakfast that also, perhaps primarily, rents by the room. I told my wife I could easily see staying as a couple because there are so many magical spots. It can accommodate a couples' inclination to mingle but preserve the option of privacy. As for a family gathering it was indescribably perfect. Gil and Kathy were kind and helpful but truly unobtrusive. They were available for help or suggestions. To preserve the coolness Gil closed the west outside blinds around 3:00p.m.but otherwise you would barely know they were there.....and we were a full family of conversation and pealing laughter. The location is surprisingly accessible to Seattle. A five minute walk down the hill and you're at the ferry. Tacoma is pretty darn close and there are trains that go right into Seattle. We had a great day seeing all the sights and closed it out with a Mariners game. Port Orchard is a handsome town, a perfect base to explore different regions. You're even closer to the Pacific coast. A bit of a haul but yes you are closer. In closing I would add that the property is incredibly well maintained. The photos accurately depict what to expect but in fact can't do it justice. No matter how long you stay you will still be discovering details of perfection and unerring good taste.....courtesy of Gil and Kathy. Thank-you both. Long review and guess what? Haven't even scratched the surface of what I loved about it.....p.s. Just read this to my wife and she said it would be a sin not to mention how perfect the kitchen is for a family that loves to cook. She's right."

  • Port Orchard Waterfront

"Randy was attentive, but gave us our privacy. The key was in a lock box and made check in/out easy. Comfortable beds and cozy living room. Nice to be able to cook our own meals and a barbeque grill outside if needed. We had our own with us and cooked outside one night. Wonderful to hear the water at high tide lapping underneath us as we drifted off to sleep. I like that we could lock our bikes up on the entryway decking safely. Clean, cozy and comfortable."

  • Beautiful Landscaping

"Lovely home with a well equipped Kitchen and comfortable family room. Easy to prepare meals with people helping around the island or close by watching TV and keeping up with World Cup Soccer. The backyard landscape, fountain and plantings are beautiful. Thank you for maintaining such an nice home at a reasonable price. A great find."

  • Nice peaceful clean home

"Lovely house – spacious, warm, inviting and comfortable. As other reviewers noted – peaceful yet only 5 minutes to downtown Port Orchard so conveniently located. There is only one bathroom but it is large and well-stocked with plenty of plush good quality linens. For those of us who like to cook the kitchen could be better stocked (e.g. missing some basics like measuring stuff, grater, baking pans, etc) but it’s functional. A little short on the wine glasses but lots of coffee cups! One of the best things about this house is the deck out back which is very private and exceptionally peaceful. From the deck you overlook a greenbelt area with gigantic beautiful trees (we live in Montana but don’t often see trees this tall), lots of birds that sing and chirp, and deer. You can also see this view from windows in the kitchen and breakfast nook area. TV is wonderful – huge, modern flat screen with good selection of channels including local (we like watching the local news channels when we travel, informative). Owner needs to leave instructions on how to operate the TV remotes. There were 4 of them – a little confusing but we finally got it figured out. I downgraded this by one star because the internet in the house does not work well at all. Owner needs to upgrade the router and the service. If you’re using phone or IPAD to access internet this is a non-issue but for people like me who travel with their laptops & sometimes need to do work research on the internet we need strong, reliable, fast internet in the home. That’s not the case with this house. It was so excruciatingly slow (felt like the old days of “dial up”) that it was impossible to load most sites such as google maps, weather channel, trip advisor, etc. Took 10 minutes just for the Yahoo mail sign in page to come up, another 5 to sign in and finally get to my Yahoo mail but unable to ever get any emails sent. I gave up and went to the Starbuck’s at Safeway a couple miles away, ordered a coffee, and sat there for a couple hours every day to get my work and travel research done. Overall except for the internet situation this is a very good VRBO property, photos and description accurately match reality and it was REALLY CLEAN and that is always extremely important to me when I stay at these types of homes. This was probably the cleanest home I’ve ever stayed in. Owners are responsive and refund of deposit was right on time."
