  • Thanksgiving Treat!

"We stayed at this amazing home for 6 nights. We had a mix of friends and family for a total of 12 people on any given night. We had an infant, preschooler, high schoolers, and grandparents in the mix. We arrived late on Monday night to a well lighted and warm home. The entire house seems to have radiant floor heat which was a huge blessing to my elderly mom as she gets cold easily. There was a welcome basket from Max (caretaker) full of local goodies and brew! Max and his wife even vacated the bottom apartment to allow more sleeping space. The family with the infant used that space. The "cottage" was used by our 2 teenagers. They enjoyed having their own space. The home is amazing! Every corner holds a creative secret or interesting artifact. We could have stayed there for 2 weeks and never discovered all of it's glory. Our 3 year old grandson marveled at the train set which provided hours of entertainment. The kitchen is wonderful and fully equipped. Specifically, the gas cook top! The master bedroom mattress was the most comfortable we have ever slept in. Even when the electricity went out, we enjoyed family games by candlelight and warmth by the fireplace. Even though theweather was mostly windy and rainy (which is expected for this time of year in Washington), our teenagers still tried to brave the waters with our blow-up kayaks. This lasted about 5 minutes as the waves were pretty big and common sense prevailed. Teenagers will be teenagers. Speaking of teenagers, when the electricity was out, our teenage boys found their more primal side and started a fire in the outdoor fire pit. The sunsets were indescribable. So amazingly beautiful. Thank you Stevenson family for providing our extended family a place to be together for Thanksgiving!"

  • Family Birthday Celebration

"Priceless family memories...Lovely, well maintained, and well equipped, grounds and home. Martha and Noel have provided their beautifully decorated, very comfortable Island home for wonderful memorymaking. Martha's list of things to bring and things provided and labeling system streamlined our trip. Back patio with firepit and hot tub and seating/patio tables overlooking pond, large covered st.steel propane BBQ w/table alongside=great gathering area. S'mores--yummm!( liked enviromental conservation encouragement at the house.)"

  • Perfect lakefront cabin island getaway!!!

"The cabin is located in a gorgeous natural setting beneath towering pine trees and overlooking a tranquil lake. My wife and I booked a long romantic Valentine's Day weekend to unwind at this gem of a getaway. We spent several evenings gazing at the incredibly bright stars from the spacious hot tub. While enjoying our morning coffee, we watched bald eagles circle the lake for fish. We relaxed in front of the fireplace (tip: bring Duralogs) drinking wine and letting time slip by unnoticed. Even though it was February, it was warm enough to paddle around the lake in the canoe in the day, but by evening when the temperature dropped we warmed ourselves by making a small fire in the fire-pit located between the cabin and the lake. During our stay we visited quaint Langley, as well as some of the many local wineries located on south Whidbey Island (there was a wine tasting tour going on the weekend we visited). As the other reviewers note, there is no TV, no internet, no cell reception... and really, isn't that the whole point of going to a place like this? We did bring an iPod player to play some relaxing music as we made breakfast in the cozy kitchen or lounged in front of the fire. We arrived in the dark and slept in the upstairs loft, and upon waking the first morning we were greeted with awe-inspiring view of the lake with woodpeckers and bluejays flitting everywhere. There is another bedroom downstairs we didn't use, and there's only one bathroom, so couples with young kids or two couples who were familiar with each other would need to share. However, we felt it was the perfect size for just the two of us to sprawl out and decompress. We opted for the "light cleaning" option - you still need to wipe things down, pack out your trash, and pull the sheets, but that really wasn't an issue. I highly recommend this place and almost wish we could keep it our own secret!!"
