  • Exquisite home on Vashon Island

"Three friends and I stayed at this exquisite home for a weekend retreat. I say "home" because it feels warm and inviting. Beautiful gardens surround the home, with something to pique our interest from every angle. In fact, out the kitchen window is a breathtaking view -- a small maple that, even in the middle of winter, captivated us with it's coloring and shape. We could have stayed for days more, strolling the beach, cooking sumptuous meals in a state-of-the-art kitchen, reading, and just relaxing. We will most definitely return."

  • A Great Place to Stay

"My wife and I stayed for a week during July of 2014 in this lovely house overlooking the ferry dock on the south end of the Island. We loved the rhythm of the arrival and departure of the ferries during the day and into the early evening. We had spent the previous week living in a cabin near the ferry dock at the north end of the island, but we much preferred staying in this house at the south end of the Island. Several friends joined us for dinner, and they loved this south-end location too. The only problem that we had was trying to decide where to have a glass of wine in the afternoon, dinner in the evening, and breakfast in the morning. The cluster of chairs down by the beach proved to be our favorite place for wine in the late afternoon; the upper deck, closest to the kitchen door, was our choice for breakfast; and the deck just below it was where we enjoyed dinner, while watching the sky darken and stars appear. When seated on either deck, we were surrounded by the large pots of flowering plants that Bruce, the owner, grows. It was easy to prepare meals in the well-equipped kitchen, and there are two nice bedrooms from which to choose. Because the weather was lovely, we spent very little time in the living room, but it looks like a cozy place to be on a rainy day. In fact, we actually asked Bruce if would consider renting the house to us during the winter, because we loved staying there so much during the summer. We would recommend this house without reservation to anyone wishing to spend a week on lovely Vashon Island."

  • Our family made happy Christmas memories in this special home

"We spent a memorable, week-long family Christmas here. It's a brief drive from the Telequah ferry and a short drive from downtown. With only a couple of steps from the walk, we found access safe and easy for family members from 4 to 80. Quartermaster Harbor views from living and dining rooms, kitchen and master bedroom are an outstanding feature. At night we turned off lights and enjoyed Christmas lights decorating ships docked at the marina. By day, we watched waterfowl and followed gentle trails on woodland paths. The large, well-tended lawn is perfect for kids' play and a gentle walk down to the water. Indoors, the thoughtful layout of the house allowed 7 adults and 2 kids to have Christmas dinner without feeling crowded. The kitchen is equipped for preparing a Christmas feast and at least 2 people can work side-by-side easily. The layout provides surprising privacy for each bedroom and bath, and no sound from media room/playroom reaches upstairs. The master suite is especially inviting. Muted colors add to the spacious feeling. Soft, recessed lighting and luxurious bedding make this a good place to relax. Overhead, a skylight let us watch clouds and blue sky by day and listen to rain at night. Around the house, we had many choices of areas to sit and visit - in front of the fireplace, watching a foosball match - as well as quiet nooks for a retreat with a good book. Although tempted to linger in the large, comfy beds, a couple of us enjoyed a very short walk down a country road to a coffee stand popular with locals for a latte and morning paper. The pine paneling in the original part of the house gave it warmth and coziness and the carpet was nice to sit on while playing games. Toys, games, books and DVDs kept both kids and adults busy. The foosball table was a hit! The owners provided everything from maps, menus, walking tours, field guides and local history books to batteries and a first aid kit. The decor is a pleasant, understated mix of local memorabilia and Latin American textiles. We've rented everything from homes to houseboats in Europe and the US. Good communication can make such a vacation terrific or nightmarish. Sue's prompt and warm responses to all our needs made us feel at home. We made good memories. Thank you, Sue."

  • Our Labor Day Family Weekend was a hit!

"Our four days Lynn's Family Home went exactly as promised. The setting on South Maury Island was terrific and allowed for walks down to Manzanita Beach, kayaking off the bulkhead, and boating from Dockton Marina. We had a mix of beautiful and crummy weather, what a treat to finally see Mt. Rainier jump out on our 3rd day. The accommodations, while not a high end resort, were very nice and reflects the love and care this family has given this home for several generations. I found it best to introduce myself to the close-in neighbors on both sides and were welcomed by them and they helped us best negotiate the tight shared parking. Sure there were things I might have wanted differently (like being able to watch the Mariners Channel), but our whole group of parents and adult children were just so very pleased to have a comfortable and stunning setting for our 'family fest'. I found Lynn to be conscientious and responsive owner. This place is worth considering."
