"This was a perfect house and a perfect location for a weekend getaway. Our book club has begun holding an annual weekend retreat in October and this is the best place we've stayed yet. We will definitely try and book this house again in the future. The house itself had plenty of room for eight adults to sleep and for those who needed privacy (or who snored), to find a place of their own. The main floor of the house has a large open living room with windows on two sides looking out to the bay, connected to an open kitchen, and with a large dining table that could easily seat 10-12. A small media room (with very comfy furniture) and a connected full bathroom are also on the main floor. Although we didn't bring our kids along, I imagine this place would be great for a multi-generational getaway, there was even a kid size table and chairs tucked away. One of the quirks of the house is that in order to reach the sleeping areas of the house, you have to go outside. The bottom floor of the house had a couple of bedrooms, a sleeping alcove, full bathroom, and laundry. In addition to the main house, there are two sleeping cabins, comfortable but not spacious, both with views of the water out the window. No bathrooms in these, so you had to come into the main house to use the bathroom and shower. Both the top floor and the bottom had porches that stretched the width of the house with comfortable furniture. We spent both evenings on the porch watching the sun go down over the other side of the bay. The hot tub is on the bottom level, outside, under a roof so you can use it rain or shine. While the layout was a bit quirky, it actually had a couple of advantages: plenty of private and/or quiet spaces, and views of the water from EVERY room.
We didn't have a chance to take out the kayaks, but we did go for a couple of nice walks on the beach at low tide-at high tide the water comes right up to the house. On Saturday we visited the farmer's market and a few shops in town, followed by visits to Seattle Distillery, Nashi Orchards, & Palouse Winery for tastings. We cooked all of our own meals at the house in the amazingly well stocked kitchen. I usually bring specialty items from my kitchen along, but I could have done without. They have 2 waffle irons!
Thanks so much for the great stay at your beautiful vacation home. The listing does a great job of describing the house and the amenities, even so, it exceeded our expectations. We hope to return."
