"...a charming cross between a bungalow and an art studio...comfortable,light and airy but tucked amongst tall trees in a lush setting, with an in-your-face waterfront view... ...where lovely framed paintings/prints and art work are not displayed on walls there are large, uncluttered windows that frame views of trees, garden, or water... ...this cozy retreat seems to reflect the escapist theme of the island itself...distant from the city life, which is a mere ferry ride away, but welcoming with friendly folks... ...there are gentle hints of the property's history in photos and books that give a respectful appreciation of the renovations that are tastefully being done... ...addl island suggestions: the Farmer's Market (in season)as unique as the island; the mouth-watering Snapdragon bakery & café; the Vashon Country Club conveniently located less than a mile from the house & now open to the public for dining ....hopefully a bridge will never be built to Vashon that would encourage busloads of tourists, traffic, and big box stores"

  • Only one problem.....

"we couldn't stay longer! The house and all amenities were beyond our expectations. The kids (13-7) were in heaven with all the water toys and a fantastic game room. All three boys (grandsons) want to live there! The kitchen was well stocked with everything you need from flipping pancakes to BBQs on the patio. Comfortable beds and the bathrooms served 7 adults and three kids just fine. We will definitely go back. Best house we have rented on Vashon."

  • Our Labor Day Family Weekend was a hit!

"Our four days Lynn's Family Home went exactly as promised. The setting on South Maury Island was terrific and allowed for walks down to Manzanita Beach, kayaking off the bulkhead, and boating from Dockton Marina. We had a mix of beautiful and crummy weather, what a treat to finally see Mt. Rainier jump out on our 3rd day. The accommodations, while not a high end resort, were very nice and reflects the love and care this family has given this home for several generations. I found it best to introduce myself to the close-in neighbors on both sides and were welcomed by them and they helped us best negotiate the tight shared parking. Sure there were things I might have wanted differently (like being able to watch the Mariners Channel), but our whole group of parents and adult children were just so very pleased to have a comfortable and stunning setting for our 'family fest'. I found Lynn to be conscientious and responsive owner. This place is worth considering."

  • Peaceful haven

"My husband, our toddler & I recently spent 5 wonderful nights at this cottage & cannot speak highly enough about it. The owners were quick to respond to our questions and offer recommendations before our trip. Their home felt very much like our own: fully stocked with PLENTY of towels and bed linens, all cooking supplies, tea light candles, board games & even toys for our little one. The feeling there was of pure serenity because of the quiet, the seclusion & stunning beauty. We saw deer daily & also enjoyed the many tiny farms that we passed (pigs, calves, chickens, duvcks, etc.). What was so unique, though, is that we were still a fast & easy ferry ride into Seattle. It truly was the best of both worlds & we cannot wait to visit again. Thank you for sharing your gorgeous home with us, Kelly & Isaac!"
