"This home was a wonderful escape for our family during spring break. We visited the Seattle/Tacoma area to tour local colleges as well as visit the various zoos, aquariums and museums. It provided us a quiet, calm and relaxing place to start and end our busy days. The owner lives nearby and was so welcoming and helpful. She understood and accommodated when we asked for a later checkout time. As other reviewers have said, there are a lot of stairs, so be aware of this when you pack! They are well lit at night and have slip resistant steps, so even during the infamous rain they felt safe."

"I was looking for serenity, relaxation, nature - I got all of these and then some! The home is very inviting and comfortable. During the day I kept the sliding glass doors open to hear the sounds of nature and enjoy the cool breezes. In the evening, I enjoyed the hot tub with the adjacent outdoor sofa to relax on after a good soak and the fire pit with a view of Mt. Rainier. My most enjoyable moments were: watching a mother otter feeding her 3 babies, watching an eagle swoop into the waters to catch a fish, and enjoying my 3 bird friends (2 crows and a seagull sitting side by side) who came every day to sit on the deck posts. I also explored Gig Harbor and found a wonderful little bookstore that reminded me of the bookstore in the movie "You've Got Mail". The proprietor's favorite books had reviews written on sticky notes and posted next to the book. What a wonderful experience!"

"Wonderful roomy house, clean and comfortable, perfect for our extended family's wedding pre-festivities. Super variety of kitchen equipment, even large pots, small appliances, baking equipment, coffee bean grinder, elec skillets, gas BBQ, etc. Great activities for families on site (games, play equipment, etc.). Shopping and restaurants are less than 5 minutes away. Only minus is that the house is very dark inside -- many light bulbs in the massive fixtures were burned out and the dark wood interior makes it difficult to do anything indoors on a cloudy day. Would suggest that you bring your own reading lamps, and flashlights for moving around after dark! Renting was carefree and agents provided detailed info before our stay, making it easy to plan what to bring. Would recommend for any large group needing a stay in the Shelton area."

"If you want a place just to chill and let your world go for a few days, this is it! The house is cozy and welcoming and so are the owners. Ruth Ann has thought of whatever a visitor might need and made sure it is right there, whether fluffy towels and robes or a great movie. We would love to come back and stay again! The island is beautiful as well and is walking and bicycle friendly. Dining out options are somewhat limited but the house has a wonderful kitchen with all the utensils and cookware you will need and a perfect patio set on the deck for those summer meals."
