  • Perfect Getaway

"This was the perfect getaway for our family. Comfortable for 4 adults, a 13yo and our 2 dogs. The location made us feel like we were in our own little world and was perfect for our family down time! We brought our paddle boards and paddled everyday! We dug for clams, picked blackberries off the bushes surrounding the property and the next door neighbors shared crabs they caught. Even though our dogs could do without the water they enjoyed the front lawn to play/lounge and the daily walks around the neighborhood. From the porch we enjoyed the views of the bay/beach, amazing sunsets and watching the tide come and go. The bungalow was clean, comfortable and well kept. It had all the modern conveniences along with their supplies and the kitchen, bathroom and laundry room was well stocked. The photos are accurate. Julia went above and beyond to help us out when needed and we truly appreciate her kindness, thank you Julia! We would definitely recommend this property and we will definitely be back!"

  • Perfect for a GIRL'S Weekend

"We are four girlfriends (all 60+) of 50 years who travel together once or twice a year; this Day Island Cottage by the water was absolutely marvelous for our needs: great view out a huge picture window overlooking the sound and the Olympic Mountains, spotlessly clean, great kitchen with all appliances and gadgets, beautifully decorated, and very comfortable. The very gracious owner was there when we arrived with a plate of freshly baked cookies and a smile - she was very helpful with information. We had a car to visit local attractions and we rode the ferry from Bremerton to Seattle, but the neighborhood is very secure and ideal for strolling in the evenings. We were fortunate to have extraordinary weather while there and used the outdoor table and chairs for our evening cocktails at sunset and watched the seals and geese and boats pass by - lovely. The only concern for older travelers or families with very young children, is the spiral staircase which is the only access to the third bedroom and there is no bathroom. But, for older children who are more fearless and flexible it would be an ideal quiet place for them to hang-out and/or play. I highly recommend this property and my girlfriends all agreed that we would be back!!"

  • Totally Awesome Vacation Spot!!

"Our family of three spent a three-day weekend at this Harstine Island retreat and had a supremely enjoyable stay. The cabin is cozy and warm, centered around a large wooden table for family activities. The kitchen may not be granite and shiny, but it is totally what you expect in a woodsy island cabin. Our 15-year old daughter took over the loft area as her own space. A huge wrap-around deck and easy chairs provide outdoor spaces as well as a large comfy hammock slung between trees. We took walks to the beach nearby, hiked along the bluffs, and enjoyed the sunny beach out on the point. The view across Puget Sound is beautiful and relaxing. Sandwiched in-between a very busy trip to the Northwest in which we hiked and climbed far up Mt. Baker, Mt. Rainier and Mt. Hood, to the point of exhaustion, the island was a welcome retreat in which we were able to lay back and do very little as we wanted. One drawback is that there is no wi-fi in the cabin, however this was really an inconvenience as we simply timed our internet usage to our visits to the community center where the signal is strong. At the central building there is a large and inviting pool, (the photos at this site do not really do it justice, or the island or the cabin for that matter, and should be updated) large enough to swim laps in. The large and hot jacuzzi was also well used to soak our weary bones. This is a quiet spot, so if you are looking for a hub of activity or have a lot of restless teenagers who need to be tethered to their devices you might seek out a place closer to civilization, but I totally recommend it as a getaway when what you want to do is recuperate from our all-too-busy lives."
