  • Fantastic home.

"Nine members of my family stayed in this fantastic home. Each family had their own room and there are four bathrooms so we didn't have the battle of which group got the bathroom. Amy was just great to work with and our view of Puget Sound was just breath taking. Breakfast on the deck looking at the view was really a treat for us. We didn't have a car but certainly could have had one if we wanted. We used Rapid Ride which was just about a block and a half away, and family dining was just a block away. We will recommend this home to anyone who is interested. The interesting thing is that on Rapid Ride we met a individual that had also stayed at the same house and highly recommended it to us. Thanks to Amy and Steve for a great time with our family for our 50th anniversary."

  • Casita

"I would recommend lamps on the night stand for reading in bed. The lighting was dark in the bedroom. A couple of the sconces were burned out so I bought light bulbls. Other than that,, the accommodations were delightful!"

  • Good feelings all round!

"This West Seattle hillside home is located on the NE side of the West Seattle peninsula, high above but close to the ocean, and provides magnificent views of the harbour across to Downtown Seattle - from North of the Space Needle to South of Century Link Field. Our stay included New Year's Eve and so a special treat was the spectacular view of the midnight fireworks not only from Space Needle Dowtown, but also from neighbours nearby - judging by the extra vehicles ion the coastal road far below a lot of people also value that view to see in the New Year. 3 couples plus our 16 year old son stayed at the house, and there was plenty of room for all of us amongst the 4 bedrooms. The dining table was also big enough for us all We felt that the house is in an ideal location - giving great views of Downtown without being within the bustle of that area. Transport wise you can take the Water Taxi into town from the pier about 1/2 mile down hill from the house (weekdays only and last ferry into town at 0845 - last ferry back at 1845), or walking up to catch a bus into town was also good. We also drove frequently which was about a 10-15 minute drive across to the city via the spectacular bridges! In the evenings we were able to sample some of the characterful dining places in quieter West Seattle - try the quircky Luna Park Cafe - great after the Seahawks game we attended, or The Elliott Bay Brewing Company - good family food and atmosphere, with great beers and u21s allowed, as long as not at the bar...and if you are "in need" of a good breakfast then try East Street (junction of california and Alaska) which is very popular amongst residents - combined with a record shop, but may involve a wait. Grocery shopping was easy at the nearby Safeway (3 minute drive), and parking at the house is ample - even on New Year's Eve when several visitors drove to neighbouring properties. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our time in this home - the owner is very prompt to reply to queries, very helpful with misplaced items, and also very quick to refund damage deposits. Good feelings all round!"

  • Just what we needed

"Urban Oasis was the perfect place for us to stay during our get away vacation in October. After a year of family illness and responsibility it felt emancipating to kick up our heels and be carefree for a bit. The apartment is lovely, contemporary and homey. Away from the hub-bub of the city, it gave my husband and I a chance to really relax and when we felt renewed, off we would again on another adventure. Ellen and Jim were fabulous hosts...meeting them felt more like catching up with old friends than a landlord/tenant encounter. They were available whenever we needed assistance but always respected our space. As for Seattle....what can I say....we had a blast being tourists to the max! Even did the ferris wheel and I'm terrified of heights! Hoping that someday we will return and if we do, this will be our nest. Congratulations Ellen on your book publication, "Nothing Ever Goes On Here", and thank you again for the "limited edition" signed copy, lol. A Hui Hou with Aloha, Louise and Bob"
