  • Great, quiet relaxing place to enjoy wildlife and lake adventures - perfect for a family gathering!

"We just returned from a wonderful quick stay at the Eagle Vista Cottage and what a treat it was! We were lucky that the owners were on the property this weekend and Bobbie and Don were wonderful hosts. There is also a 3 bedroom 3 bath house available to rent but we did not stay in it. Eagle Vista is an apt name for this cottage as the resident pairs of Bald Eagle and Osprey on the lake put on quite a show right out front of the cottage all weekend! The eagle flew right over the cottage with a trout in its talons! (The only way it could have been better is if he dropped it into the barbecue grill for our dinner!) From the property we also saw: great blue heron, turtles sunning themselves on a rock in the beaver pond and a deer that walked across the lawn. The cottage is small and cozy at the far end of the property, so a little bit of privacy is possible if desired. Has a day bed and small pull-out couch (basically three twin beds) and a double size platform loft way up a steep ladder. A good size kitchen/bathroom for a cottage and nice and clean and well provisioned with all the basics. The barbecue grill on the small wrap around deck was much better than expected and we enjoyed it greatly! A small table for 4 at the front window has a great view of the lake. There is also a picnic table and benches on the deck or that could easily be moved to the lawn nearby. Hiking is available just across Hwy 211 on property they also own. We hiked up to the old ski resort and had a fantastic view of the lake and valley from there. Next door is a small private park with benches and an interpretive trail identifying native plants. There is a beautiful volleyball pitch on the lawn and we were there when a truck of fresh white sand was brought in this weekend! A great fire-pit is next to the lake and would be wonderful for a wienie roast with the kids. A pelican boat (foot-paddle) and two canoes are available for use. If you're inexperienced, be sure to bring a bailing cup along with you! (It took us awhile to figure out how to keep the water from coming over the front of the pelican boat due to strong wind on the lake and a cup for bailing would have allowed us to stay out longer!) There is a small convenience store up the road for items you forget to bring with you! We highly recommend a stay at the Old Sacheen Resort for relaxation and great family fun! (Side note: My verizon cell phone had service here but Clearwire internet did not work.)"

  • Definitely an excellent spot!

"Our four granddaughters along with their parents joined us (grandparents from the east coast) for an outstanding time at this perfectly designed lake home for young children. Days were very warm, but all of us could fully enjoy the lake's coolness. Evenings were cool. We had every dinner by the lake at the lovely 'cabaña' type area so we could fully take in the comfortable surroundings. Every item possible was fully provided ~ life vests for all sizes, water rafts and tubes, outside and inside toys, books, games, and jungle jims, horseshoe pits, and a volleyball net. The yard is lovely! Beautiful flowers and shrubbery outline the large property plus the enormous green grassy area between the house and the lake makes life extra pleasant. It was helpful to have the washer/dryer along with the dishwasher handy too. We were able to grill out or easily fix all of our meals each day/night. Go and enjoy! The owners are extremely helpful, kind, and accommodating. We'd love to go back some day."

  • PURE PEACE AND RELAXATION

"THIS IS OUR 2ND VISIT AND WE HAD A WONDERFUL TIME FLOATING AROUND THE LAKE ON THE RAFT. GREAT SWIMMING, TOO. SAW A BALD EAGLE SWOOP DOWN AND TRY TO TAKE OUT A DUCK, BUT THE DUCK ESCAPED TO THE REEDS. SAW A BEAR CUB. THIS IS A PLACE TO REALLY GET AWAY FROM IT ALL. I READ 6 BOOKS!!! THE CABIN HAS EVERYTHING YOU COULD WANT OR NEED. THE ONLY THING YOU NEED TO TAKE IS FOOD, CLOTHING, AND PERSONAL ITEMS (TOOTHPASTE, ETC.) THE LAKE AND FOREST ARE ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL---WITH LOTS OF OPPORTUNITIES FOR GREAT HIKES."

  • Nice summer stay

"We had a wonderful stay, The house was just as we pictured it, charming clean and tidy. The upstairs bedroom where my granddaughter and her friend stayed had toys and a puppet theater in it which they had a blast with. It was fun to watch their productions! I know the toys were lonely when they went home! The house stayed very cool during the day which was marvelous as the weather was very warm, and it cooled off each night for pleasant sleeping weather. There were a great many geese which required some daily beach cleaning while the children were there, and the water was weedier that I really like, but the water was nice, the paddle boat was fun and the dock was where I spent most of my time. The kitchen was very well appointed and there was plenty of space for the things we brought with us. We were close enough to Spokane that we were able to run to town to catch a movie in Wandemere and close enough to Newport for a quick grocery run. I would come back here and stay again!"
