"Definitely enjoyed our stay here, and would do it again. Very quiet, close to B'ham, and the lake is a nice treat. Lots of water craft to play about with. Sitting on the deck and reading, and watching the birds, etc. = very relaxing. The stairs, and the parking situation were a bit of a surprise, but we made our adjustments as needed, and frankly never asked about either situation prior to arriving. Anyhow - the people are very nice and helpful (Owner and attendants)."

"We were here for 3 nights in late June and would have stayed longer if we could. The cottage is approached by a winding tree lined gravel drive taking you well away from the road and then round a curve you come upon the cottage and the owners' property in a secluded position with idyllic views of Squalicum Lake. There is separate parking and the Cottage is private and not overlooked despite the proximity of the owners property. The view is lovely with the lake glittering in the evening sunshine beyond a meadow. No other properties in view except a few on the other side of the lake. Liane and John have an extensive plot of land with lake frontage and there is a small boat available, which however we did not use. We had a very warm welcome and John was very informative about the locality and the region. Laine and John encouraged us to feel free to walk the grounds without restriction.
The cottage has a homely old fashioned external appearance - timber construction - very modern and well appointed inside with living room/kitchen overlooking the lake and bedroom in the shady back of the cottage with nice bathroom leading off. Kitchen well equipped.
Much good artwork on the walls including one by Liane herself who is an accomplished artist. The cottage information folder has comprehensive information on activities, sightseeing, restaurants etc.
We have to mention the bird feeders - wide range of colourful birds. Also eagles fishing on the lake
Despite being in such a secluded peaceful rural location, Bellingham is only a short drive away (15/20 Mins?)
The cottage is ideally located for touring the region. Apart from Bellingham itself, which is a very nice town worth exploring, the Mount Baker Scenic Highway passes nearby for access to the N Cascades. Ferry ports at Port Townsend and Annacortes are within easy reach for ferries to the islands or Olympic Peninsular and Vancouver City is just 50 or so miles to the north.
In conclusion, as you will gather, Squalicum Lake Cottage comes very strongly recommended by us."
