  • Very nice!

"First off, we want to THANK our hosts for keeping their rates very reasonable and no cleaning fee--very, very appreciated! Bakerview Retreat is definitely a retreat--the loft bedroom windows (great bed and cozy space!)make you feel like you are in your own personal treehouse looking out into the woods. Since our visit was in Spring there was much greenery and birdsong, really enjoyed that. Everything was very clean, we loved that there were two different kinds of coffee makers plus an electric kettle to boot! Plus the wonderful hosts provided some coffee to get you started, plus water bottles and granola bars for both of us. No stovetop or oven but there is a small fridge, microwave, toaster etc, plus a small gas grill on the deck we were able to use for dinner one night. The bathroom is modern and spotless but it is downstairs and the bedroom is up somewhat steep stairs--just so you know if you have leg problems and have the need to use the bathroom frequently it is something to keep in mind. We highly recommend this property!"

  • A million miles from home, but only an hour away!

"My girlfriend and I stayed at Gary's condo from Apr 17-20 and were pleasantly surprised. After speaking with Gary on the phone I knew this is where we wanted to stay. His informal approach to renting his accommodation was very warm and welcoming. We were renting early in the season and requested he did what he could to have the kayaks available for us to use during our stay. He bent over backwards to make this happen and my god were we happy he did. We packed lunch and refreshments into the kayaks and paddled out. We found a lovely private beach were we relaxed all afternoon in the sun, it was perfect. Some things you may want to know when looking into this property: The bed is super comfortable. We often use vrbo for weekend getaways and that's one thing we have often found, terrible mattresses. Definitely not the case here. Gary himself may be this property's best asset. He's looking for people to enjoy their time and come back another time (we will certainly be doing this, just trying to iron out the dates). Shower is great. It has the large 'rain' style piece, wall jets, and the removable wand. Although the kitchen is a little dated, and even though the oven looks like it's from the 50's it actually works very well... I guess they don't make things like they used to! Internet worked perfectly, as did the cable. Everything is as advertised. GOLF...if you enjoy the game, or love to hate the game, than this is the place for you. 100 paces to the clubhouse of this very interesting course. The front 9 is nice and open and offers great views of the lakes and mountains, and the tighter back 9 has lots of blind tee shots which make it quite interesting. It was an extremely enjoyable, and relaxing stay. It was really nice to only be an hour from home (Vancouver, BC) but feel like we had driven for hours to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. We recommend this stay for anyone who enjoys golfing, kayaking, swimming, boating, nature watching etc etc. We certainly will be back this year. Thanks again Gary for making our stay comfortable and easy. We look forward to our next trip down!"

  • lovely weekend getaway

"We loved staying at the hideaway. We live only a couple of hours away but felt like we really escaped to our own little oasis. The view is amazing and such a welcome sight. The cottage was clean and welcoming and Dawn the property manager got in touch to make sure we had what we needed. Town is a short drive away and we enjoyed getting reacquainted with Bellingham: good restaurants, shops to stroll through, breweries to relax in. :) Our only issue with our stay is the train that rumbles past on the hillside below the cottage. It made sleep difficult, especially the second night when it went by every hour until 1AM and then again through the wee hours several more times. If you don't mind that, the beauty of the hideaway location is worth it!"
