"We rented this home to get together for a few nights with our 2 sons, their wives and 4 children. It worked out well, since there are 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The house is well equipped, except there is no air conditioning and we happened to be there on a 90-degree weekend. But the backyard was ideal for the kids to play in...we brought an inflatable pool, and they had a great time. The yard backs up to one of the walking trails in the Whatcom Falls Park, which is a real gem. The falls are beautiful, the trails are wide for easy walking and the thick woods give you the impression that you're hiking in the wilderness. We printed off maps of the park and brought them with us, and were glad we did as we didn't find any in the house. There is also a small playground for young kids just a couple of minutes' walk away. And, a wonderful surprise was Whatcom Lake just a 5-minute ride away. It has a big playground, nice beach/grassy area and a swimming area. The house has lots of comfortable seating areas, a big dining table plus eating space on the deck. It's also a close drive to a supermarket, shopping center and movie theatre. I would recommend this house for a family or friends gathering."

"It was a great vacation rental. The owner lives in the little house between the rental and the pool and she had everything sparkling clean when we arrived. She vacuumed the pool the day we arrived and skimmed it every day. Kitchen and bathrooms appear to have been remodeled recently (except for the bathtub). The wood floors are beautiful and the rugs are plush.
Everything worked well: wireless internet was reliable (16 Mbps), TV had lots of channels, pool was 80 degrees, and the gas stove heated the room quickly. We found the living room furniture to be very comfortable, but the beds were softer than we prefer. There was a good supply of hand soap, dish soap, and toilet paper, but no shampoo.
The stairs to the loft are quite steep, but the railing is sturdy. The loft has a low ceiling and I thought it might get too hot up there, but we kept the windows open on both sides and got a good cross breeze. All the windows in the house have good screens and there was a window fan as well as an oscillating fan.
Even though the area is rural, there was some traffic noise from Hemmi Road. The nearest Safeway is in Bellingham (7 miles south) or Lynden (7 miles north). The nearest restaurant is at the Raspberry Ridge Golf Course, 2 miles away. The nearest coffee stand is half a mile. Horses are right across the street.
Our favorite outings were to Big Rock Park Garden in Bellingham to see the sculptures, the Fragrance Garden at Hovander Homestead Park In Ferndale, and walking the trails at Sehome Arboretum near the university.
We really enjoyed driving through the farmland. Our GPS kept directing us to drive on Guide-Meridian, but we usually used Hannegan road because it had fewer roundabouts and was more scenic. Wiser Lake Road runs perpendicular to Hannegan and was very scenic as well. Overall, a great rental in a great location."

Executive lake house. An excellent location to create lasting memories.
"Awesome location on the sunny side of Lake Whatcom. Our family enjoyed our time at this beautiful home. The outdoor covered area with wood burning fireplace provided us with ample space for family dinners followed by many hours of scrabble and card games. The hot tub was perfect and used often following our nightly sunset water activities when the lake is at it's calmest. The interior of the home is amazing. Everything is there to ensure your stay is comfortable , much like a 5 star hotel . Beautiful wood carvings enhance the interior and bring the outdoors in.
The lower level with walk out sliding doors was perfect for our teens. Of course it had the great lake views that the rest of the house has , as well as a media area , separate bedroom and bath room. The pool table is a nice feature and saw a lot of use.
Kayaks , paddle boards , fire pit and a great boat dock are available lakeside. Mike , the caretaker was extremely helpful and attentive . His Knowledge of the surroundings was appreciated and we enjoyed getting to know him. Thank you to the Walker family for allowing us to enjoy your special place. It did create lasting memories for all of us."
