  • So Cozy!!!

"We stayed at the Beach House for a long weekend to celebrate our Mom's 80th Birthday. We could not have asked for a better place to stay!! It was just perfect for my parents, Sister and Brother.... It was more than comfortable with everything you could ever need :) We walked along the beach gathering rocks and shells, played games, and just spent some good quality time together! Sheryl was soooo awesome and welcomed us with open arms! She really has thought of EVERYTHING to make that little house so cozy and cute!! We loved the nautical theme and the toasty blankets. Thank you so much Sheryl for a memory we will never forget!! Hope to come back soon!!!!"

Birch Bay Travel Tips

Birch Bay Vacation Rentals Are Just 50 Miles from Vancouver

The area of Birch bay is located in Whatcom County, Washington. It is about 100 miles from Seattle, Washington and just 50 miles from Vancouver in Canada. Visitors wishing to visit Canada should remember to bring their passports. The area is sheltered by Semiahmoo Bay and Lummi Bay. It was discovered in 1792 during the Vancouver Expedition. The two ships anchored in the bay and Archibald Menzies named the bay after noticing the large number of birch trees along the coastline.

Birch Bay lodging is conveniently located with Interstate 5 running through the area; it is serviced by nearby Bellingham international airport. It has a mild climate, with beautiful springs and falls and a pleasant dry summer.

Birch Bay Cabins by the Beach Are Perfect for Children

Birch Bay vacation rentals are wonderful options for families. There are a variety of outdoor family activities to enjoy here. Children love the beach and on the beaches here, they can spend hours hunting for crabs and clams. Make sure they keep a record; there are rules on crabbing and clamming. The low tide provides miles of sand at Birch Bay. The sand is perfect for sandcastles and during the summer, the beach holds a daily sandcastle contest so be prepared for serious competition. Kite flying is another popular pastime along the wide beach. The beach is also very safe for swimming with the sand flats creating a nice, shallow area with no undertow. Spend an hour or two wandering the beach looking for shells, driftwood and tiny sand creatures. Because it is a very sheltered area, Birch Bay is also perfect for boating and kayaking. When the tide is high, visitors can kayak from the beach up Terrell Creek. At Pugeet Sound, in Birch State Park, visitors can use the boat launch to access the bay and the nearby Strait of Georgia. Lake Terrell is a popular area for fishing for bass. The area is classified as one of the 50 most important birding areas in the state. Bird watchers will find an abundance of seabirds and shore birds as well as one of the largest nesting areas for herons.

Delightful Villages to Visit

The village of Birch Bay is just six miles from the border with Canada. Here, visitors to Birch Bay cabins will find activities such as tennis courts, and a nine-hole golf course. There are two man-made lakes here--Kwan and Thunderbird.

Nearby Blaine was settled in 1850 by prospectors during the gold rushes. Here visitors can enjoy Peace Arch Park where the Peach Arch stands half in the United States and half in Canada. This unique area marks the longest undefended border in the world. It was dedicated in 1921 and is the first monument ever dedicated to world peace.

Sitting right on the border with Canada is Semiahmoo; it is an area of scenic beauty. The miles of shoreline are home to a variety of biking and hiking trails. Along the shoreline are many boat launch areas, a swimming pool and two 18-hole golf courses.

Technically unconnected to the landmass of the United States is Point Roberts, referred to as Point Bob by locals. It is a popular place for its particularly warm, shallow and safe water. It is the perfect family beach.
