  • Amazing, lovely - best VRBO ever!

"This Lummi Island home was beyond fabulous for our mini-family reunion. The owner, Kjerstin, was extremely personable and friendly. She truly had thought of everything in this amazingly well-appointed home! There was plenty of comfortable space for adults and children, the home was impeccably clean, the furnishings lovely, and there were so many "extras" not often present in a rental - toiletries, ability to do laundry, millions of children's items to use (pack & play, toys, books, baby gates at the stairs, outdoor sports toys), a beautiful garden, chickens to watch, great outdoor deck and table, hot tub, grill. The island is also wonderful for a long run or hike, blackberry picking in the summer, enjoying the Puget Sound views, etc. (and the Willows Inn and its associated restaurants are great!) We had planned to come and go a little from Lummi, but enjoyed the island and particularly this house so much that we never left. We get back to the PNW every summer, and we will definitely return to this newly-discovered gem!"

  • Wonderful Views; Beautiful Home; Idyllic Natural Setting

"Our two-week stay was too short! Even the ferry ride from Anacortes was memorable. At the property the two of us felt like we were in a wooded Garden of Eden. Every day we spent time on the deck looking at the serene waters of Mud Bay (what a misnomer!). We saw deer, bald eagles, too many robins to count, chipmunks, a minx, gorgeous skies, and the most memorable up-close collection of trees we've ever seen. (Can you tell we live in a big city!?). When we could tear ourselves away from the magnificent views, we wandered around this charming island. We visited the independent bookshop, two FULL-service groceries, the Lopez Island Vineyard tasting room, a fudge shop (delicious!), the very well-organized city dump and recycling center, even the Chamber of Commerce office! Don't miss the short but positively lovely walk to Watmough Bay. The only bad thing about staying here is that we had to leave!"

  • Perfect location

"What a gem and definitely on my favourites list. We came here for a long weekend with friends from Canada and it was just a perfect location. The cottage is very well equipped with everything you could possibly want and Bob could not have been any more welcoming. He was keen to make sure that we had a good time even helping us make dinner reservations at Roche Harbor. His advise about taking the scenic route to the cottage was well advised and the views were spectacular. My husband and son wanted to try fishing and used Bob's little row boat and actually caught a couple of rockfish so that satisfied out 13 yr old! A very memorable weekend in a perfect location, thanks Bob!"

  • Perfect! Private! Quiet! Excellent Value!

"We had a few days where we both had time off together, a rare thing these days. I suggested we head up to Orcas, as it had been about 16 years since we last were there, and the weather looked promising. Found this little place, and it was available. Contacted them and booked it, then headed on out there. When we checked in it was a pleasant surprise. There is a non profit environmental group downstairs, so there are no other people around. The room is perfectly appointed, very clean, and has many things that we did not expect. There is a Keurig coffee machine complete with a great selection of K-cups. The kitchenette had everything we needed to have coffee in the morning, and fix a light breakfast. (No pots and pans, as the owners feel that the smells and mess from that type of food prep may be a problem. OK by us though, as we had lunch and dinner out each day.) The TV was perfect, HD Direct service. There is also high speed internet for those who simply cannot leave the virtual world behind. The bed was also excellent, like sleeping on a cloud. Not too firm, not too soft, just right. There is a gas fireplace if it gets too chilly at night, makes for a very cozy atmosphere. The bathroom and shower were just like at home. Everything we needed was there, large and soft fluffy towels, washcloths, hand towels, even soap in the sink and the shower had a dispenser with body wash, shampoo and conditioner! The view of the bay and marina is nice, although the local power and cable companies need to bury their stuff to clean it up some. No worries though, I can clone that stuff out in Photoshop later! There is a restaurant next door, the West Sound Café. Great food, but the service was a bit slow. But on Orcas everything is close, only a short drive away. And if you come by boat there is a public dock a very short walk away, about 150 yards. You can put in your kayak right there if that is your thing. We will bring ours the next time we come out there. It is also a great starting point for bicycling. Yes, the Crow's Nest is the perfect getaway for a couple that likes a quiet and private place to stay on the island, and the price was reasonable too. So the next time you stay on Orcas, give it a try. You will not be disappointed. We will definitely stay there again!"
