Late Summer Rental
"Our vacation selection for Lummi Island was to find a home near the water, where we could relax and read while enjoying the serene mountain scene, along with family and two grandsons, and find plenty to keep the boys busy (only one television was sometimes challenging). The Eagles Rest home was spacious and roomy for all of us with a well stocked and equipped kitchen. We found we didn't need to purchase paper towels, napkins or toilet paper, and noted the large selection of spices for cooking meals. Occasional lunch or dinner out was a treat at the Beach Store Cafe and we were able to locate several geo cache locations with the grandsons finding hidden treasures. A downed tree during a weekend storm took out the electricity and television signal, but the home was equipped with a generator for emergency power. Our only disappointment was the condition of the carpeting on the stairs and in the master bedroom as it appeared dirty with obvious stains on the lighter carpeting in the upper areas. We felt cleaning/damage fees charged previous occupants could have been used to take care of this matter."

"How do I even start...the pictures on-line don't do this house justice. The house is beautiful, large and has an amazing deck and hot tub with views you cannot even imagine. Going in the Fall seemed crazy we thought at first but watching the weather from the big windows was awesome. Fireplace made it cozy. The house is well equipped for family and for a long stay. Being a chef- walking in and seeing a gas stove top with open kitchen was perfect. We only ate out once during our 6 day stay, which was at the Island Skillet. We give it 5 stars too. One of the highlights was when we saw 3 orca whales from the window of the house and also going up to Mt. Constitution and the lakes along the way! The beach down the block is very nice. There is a sitting area on top of the bluff that has a panoramic view of the islands. The little beach has perfect skipping stones and clear clean water. Had weather been warmer we probably would have went for a swim. We saw Eagles and Seals and Ravens... Oh my! and lots and lots of deer and turkeys. This house is off the beaten path which is one of the things we loved about it. We hope to stay again soon."

"We stayed for five nights in September 2015 and were highly satisfied with the experience. A hotel room gets relatively cramped with four adults; for a better price this 3-bed + airbed, 2-bath cottage provides complete and wonderful comfort. The owners built it themselves in 2007 and their pride shows in excellent management and elegant furnishings. (They also own/operate Crystal Seas Kayaking and San Juan Excursions, and offer 10% discounts to guests here.) The house is fresh and luxurious, a perfect rental home, and as clean as can be.
The central location near key roads on the island is most convenient, and lovely too: the eight minute drive from Friday Harbor is full of pastoral beauty along the San Juan Valley Road (Beaverton is less scenic). Lake Margo is not visible but a short walk away on a well-maintained path (cute sign at the front; fall colors visible; bit steep at the end). Note that campfires are not allowed on the grounds.
For us, there could not have been a better choice of lodging. We give our highest recommendation."
