  • Wonderful view and friendly hosts

"We stayed here for several days over the 4th of July. You could not ask for a better view and location near downtown. We even had a front and center view of the fireworks from the picnic table down by the water. The hosts are such wonderfully nice and caring people. It makes a huge difference in the experience. Thank you very much!!!!"

  • Quiet, funky, cozy place with easy access to everything!

"From the moment I first contacted Gary, I knew that this would be a slam dunk. Three friends and I drove up from Seattle straight to Mt. Baker for a full day of snowboarding and this place made for the perfect spot to chill out and spend time together just 1hr 15mins drive from the mountain (instead of bombing back to the city in the dark all wet, tired and sore). We stored our boards on the deck, ran a load of laundry, fired up the football game and took turns in the amazing shower (which felt particularly great after a ski day). Gary made this the easiest VRBO experience I've ever had (super simple to rent, was able to answer our questions upon arrival). We were wowed with the funky decor the second we walked in - the place was a real charmer. Looking forward to staying here in the future!"

  • Beautiful and Comfortable

"We LOVED this home on the 1st Fairway. We had 4 adults and 3 children ages 17, 15 and 11. The home is beautiful and very clean with a well stocked kitchen. We also used the grill for our nightly dinners. The beds were super comfy and offered a quiet environment. Our family enjoyed the 2nd level entertainment area, playing cards and watching The Sherlock Holmes Series. The guys played golf 2 days. My 15 year old is a dog lover and enjoyed daily visits with Porshe and Piper. The home is 5 min from Friday Harbor which offers grocery shopping, fun stores and restaurants. It's very convenient to the Ferry, Zip Line tours, and bike and scooter rentals. You can rent a bike or scooter to get around the island. We saw a pod of Orca Whales an visited the Lavender farm. A car is not needed for an enjoyable island experience. We spent 5 days in busy Seattle and then headed to San Juan Island. This home was the perfect ending to our Washington vacation. Thank you!"

  • Amazing experience staying here

"My husband and I recently stayed at The Waterhouse for a week and we had the best vacation. Moments after our arrival we saw orcas from the house and we saw them every day of our stay. We also saw a young humpback whale very close to shore right in front of the house. There is so much wildlife around: blacktail deer including a spotted fawn, a raccoon that peered in the window, bald eagles on the rocky point seen from the living room, barn swallows tending their babies in mud nests on the house, white-crowned sparrows singing sweetly from the blackberry bushes and pelagic birds like rhino auklets diving for mouthfuls of herring, it looked like. The house itself is very clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. I'm very picky about those things and it surpassed my expectations. Suzanne is so nice and made us feel at home. We explored the island a bit but spend most of our time here, having breakfast and lunch on the deck, sketching and reading or just watching from the window-seats indoors. Often after dark, we'd hear the orcas swimming by the house, their huffing-snorting sounds coming in the open bedroom windows. Falling asleep to the sounds of waves and orcas - it doesn't get any better!"
