  • Beautiful views and very nicely kept property

"Our family of four recently spent three nights here while attending the wedding of our friends on Lummi Island. We had never been to the Island before and very much enjoyed our stay. The property is very well kept and maintained, and the views from the large deck are gorgeous. We saw many birds from the deck and enjoyed the tranquillity of the property. There is a very small lake with a grassy area, picnic tables and a cabana that is a short drive from the property that is accessible to guests. Our children (3 and 5) enjoyed a morning swimming and playing at the lake. The kitchen in the house was very well outfitted with dishes, cooking utensils, cutlery, etc. which made it easy to prepare meals. My one caution for families with young children is that there are many fine knick-knacks and collectables around the house so I would recommend doing a quick "child proofing" sweep before letting the kids loose. :)"

  • Beautiful view from a very comfortable house

"We are a family of four and we spent a very enjoyable six nights recently at this Orcas home and came back home thoroughly well rested & energized. The house is super comfortable with all the amenities, the kitchen is well provided for and the view of the ocean from the entire house is fabulous. We could hear & see the whales go by from the deck and the scenery is breathtaking. The folks at the management company made it very easy for us to book the house and were very prompt in communicating with us. I would totally recommend anyone to book this house for a nice getaway. It is close to the beautiful parks, waterfront & beaches. The village of Eastsound is an easy 20 minute drive from the house and Mt. Constitution is about 10 mins away."

  • Beautiful area and beautiful home

"2 Couples in our 50's and 60's stayed here. This home is one of he highest elevations in the area for living. Beautiful sunsets, stars, and view of he water below. Very quiet, and with 2 decks, where the back deck/patio has a weber bbq. The kitchen is full of utensils, pans, silver ware, and has a dish washer, microwave, and stove/oven. The front room has a fireplace and a wood stove, and there is wood and kindling covered in the patio area. There a 3 beautiful rooms, and 2 bathrooms with showers, with one bathroom having a jackuzi. There are roads and trails just off of the property that are wonderful for walking and even biking. The location provides easy access to many activities on the island. There are kayak and bike shops, restaurants, and stores/shops to look at and buy things if interested. The owner was very accommodating when we asked if we could just stay 2 nights. He was also very helpful with sending us information about things to do in the area. There is nothing to clean up afterwards except for putting dishes, pans, silverware away clean. There were extra pillows and blankets, and even slippers as it is asked that shoes be taken off in the house. Therefore the entire house is very clean, and has many windows letting in lots of light. There is accessible music in each room, televisions, games to play, and wi fi. And finally, the ferry ride is a comfortable just under one hour ride from Anacortes, which is 1 1/2 hours north of Seattle. Dan/Janice, Chris/Julie"

  • Lovely family vacation

"We enjoyed a beautiful 5 night stay at this lovely property. Our only complaint is that we didn't book it for longer! We had 6 in our party - 3 children (ages 7-12) and 3 adults. The house is a well-kept old farmhouse with so much charm and ample room for us all. The location is amazing. Seriously, less than a 5 minute walk into town (Brown Bear Baking pastries and lattes for breakfast!) but back at the house, we felt completely secluded. (Faint traffic noise from nearby road but the trees and natural shape of the bay keep it minimal.) Even more amazing is the big lawn and beach front. The kids spent hours roaming the shores for shells. We dug up clams at low tide and made clam chowder. (You can walk all the way around the bay then!) Even if you hardly pull any clams out of the sand, just looking for the holes and "spirts" is an adventure in itself. This is a perfect property for kids of all ages - even toddlers. Loads of space to wander around safely while adults can sit and keep watch. Every evening we had a special guest for our dinner out on the porch: a bald eagle (who we named "Sam") sat high in a nearby tree. Easy drive (20min?) to Moran State Park with hiking and swimming in the lakes. We had sunny, warm weather while we were there, but even if it had been cloudy and colder, the house and location are perfect for sitting and reading (partially covered porch,) playing games, walking on the beach etc. ( Oh! And the hot tub! - cannot forget the hot tub.) The one thing to know in advance is that since this is a turn of the century farmhouse, the bedrooms (all upstairs) do not open up into a central hallway. This is a classic design for its time and I'm glad the owners didn't remodel it but it is quite different from modern home design. This means that the bedrooms open up into each other in a circle. So the bunk bed room opens onto the hallway and into the queen bedroom. Then the queen bed room opens up into the upstairs 1/2 bath which then opens up into the king bedroom which opens up again into the hallway. If you are turned around by that description, it just means that to get to the queen bed room or bathroom you have to go through another bedroom (king or bunk bed.) Not a problem for us at all as we just shuffled around who slept where for the best privacy. My husband is from the Seattle area and spent his summers on Orcas growing up. He loved it and we will definitely return next summer for a full week!"
