Relaxing weekend away with friends
"I decided to gather 9 of my closest friends for a weekend getaway just outside the city. Heading up to Guemes island was a mixture of fun adventure and relaxing getaway. We were able to enjoy our time and below I'll provide the pros/cons and my tips for future vacationers.
The ferry was short, cheap, and travels across often. There was practically no noise, traffic, or other people around at all during our stay, the house is completely surrounded and feels very private. The house was very spacious and provided exactly what we needed for a short weekend away, including some board games and the garage entertainment (pool/ping pong) was greatly appreciated. The back deck is very spacious and it was very easy to accommodate everyone for relaxing and chatting in a large circle. The yard is also very spacious and can easily have multiple people running around at once.
Cons: (Most of these cons were a result of me and not the house)
There are only a few outdoor chairs, so bring some if you like to lounge. The ferry can only hold 20-22 cars at a time so get there a little early otherwise you may have to wait. There was no outdoor fire pit, which would have been really fun but again there was never one promised so I can't be upset about not having one. The propane tank was empty but we filled it at the local store and the home-owner reimbursed us, yay!
Do your research on the ferry schedule and get there 20-25 minutes early. Pack plenty of chairs and everything you'll need to enjoy they weekend (outdoor games, drinks, water, etc...). If you can't find the ping pong paddles look in the drawers by the garage sink... trust me... they are there! I recommend bringing flip flops or slippers since there is a lot of in and out of the back patio (lazy pro-tip). Bring fancy cooking utensils, the basics are there.
The house was amazing and we had a great time, enjoy yourself and do the 1.1 mile Guemes Mountain hike, it was beautiful."

"We had a fabulous stay on the lake this year! The layout of the house is perfect for a large family. We were surrounded by nature and enjoyed lot's of fun games together. A lot of love was put into this lake cabin. You can see it and feel it. The kids will be talking about our lake stay until next summer! Thank you!"

"I was a little concerned about staying because right after we booked the place, there was a bad review. However, I didn't agree with that review. It said the bed slumped to the center, but we didn't find this to be true. It wasn't a very firm mattresses but it was nice and comfortable, did not slump. It had everything we needed. The view was great! We did get a little lost getting there following the iPhone map, but Harvey's directions were good. We met Our 1 year old enjoyed the cats and deer. I would stay again!"
