  • Great Place

"Can't say anything bad about this place. Lots of space, a great patio and dock. Our group loved it and will likely go back again!"

  • You Will Never Want to Leave!

"This was a warm, welcoming, and incredible place. The location is phenomenal with unimagined views of Rosario Strait. Not only are you treated to the vast, calm water and expansive views of many other islands, but also to boats, ships, and kayaks, none of which invade the intimacy and privacy of this amazing cottage on the bluff. You will also be treated to encounters with/views of eagles, dolphins, deer, hummingbirds, seals, sea lions -- all from the hot tub, the deck, or almost any room in the house. Whales are possible with patience and luck. The lush vegetation of the area and the ever-present deer become part of the house through the kitchen and bathroom windows. All windows open wide to let the house and the wondrous location merge and become one -- with or without screens at your discretion. The house is furnished exquisitely -- fully functional and with quality items. Amenities are robust including a wide range of TV/music options, wifi, laundry, and kitchen amenities. The house is a delight for those of us concerned about the fragile environment of the islands, with full recycling, green household products, and a compost toilet system. Access to the ocean for beaching, swimming, fishing, and boating is nearby. The private roads in the area are wonderful for romantic walks or family day hikes. More strenuous activity is available with Moran State Park and Mt. Constitution nearby. The carefully built and finished craftsman cottage is a perfect, intimate venue for romance and couples relaxation. Doug is the premier host and could not be more welcoming or hospitable, and returned our cleaning deposit almost before we got back home! We cannot wait to go back!"

  • Minimoon at the Gnome House on Orcas Island

"A year ago on 2-27-2012 Chuck and I got married and I went into for surgery right afterwards not having a Honeymoon. We decided this year to go ahead and take a little trip somewhere local. We tried thinking of a place where neither of us had gone before. We chose Orcas Island. After some searching we decided on The Gnome House. It was an Excellent Choice. Other then the weather everything was great. It would have been better if there were more places open to eat at. But being we had a little kitchen we ate most of our meals at The Gnome House. Everything was available for our use. Dishes, flatware, cooking pans and so forth.. It was very cozy. The inside decor was very nice and the work that went into building it was amazing. The owners were very pleasant and helpful. I hope to come back again. Only in the spring or summer though."

  • Family with young children

"This house is wonderful for a family with children. The living room is spacious and comfortable with a wonderful fireplace and an expansive ocean view. The dining room table is big and bright and cheery. The front yard and the commons in front of the property are grassy and open. The stairs to the beach are easily accessible through the front yard gate. The beach is full of treasures and open in both directions for a long walk. (We were not there during the swim season.) There are many forms of sea life and birds to view. The tree in front of the house was visited daily by a family of four eagles. The hot tub on the front deck had a great view and it is easy to get to the hot tub from the house. We much enjoyed our stay."
