  • An amazing place to explore the wonders of Orcas!

"The Gnome House is such an incredibly unique and amazing place. What Meg and Bob have created on their property is so wonderful. We went with our young (10 and 9 years old) niece and nephew. The Gnome House itself is fantastic. Just the attention to detail with the building construction is incredible. It's not a fancy place (think more cabin-like than fancy resort), but it has everything you need and is quite comfortable. But the real charm of this place is the property. The kids spent every day down at the pond on the property catching frogs and even swimming. There's a playset with the most amazing view of Deer Harbor. There are acres and acres of trails to explore, pick blackberries. And even a permaculture garden! In the evenings it was roasting smores in the fire pit or sitting in the hot tub under the stars. And Bob was so kind, teaching the kids how to catch frogs and making sure they were having a fantastic time. Really, it was a vacation to remember and we'll definitely be back."

  • Perfect for my sabbatical

"I just needed to run away from home for a couple of days to re-charge. Since I live in Vancouver Canada, this location was an easy drive. The space was perfect for me being one person. When I arrived Howard had left a note for me. It's was easy to access with the codes. I like that my car was safely tucked away and close in the garage. I used the garage to store my bike (my companion on this trip). The room it's self was spotless. the bathroom was nicely appointed and spacious with in-floor heating. The bed was extremely comfortable, but it was the view which is so mesmerizing and stunning. I spent almost the entire time sitting by the cozy fire and looking out the window. I suggested to Howard a rug and big love seat surrounding the fire and view would be nice :) Be aware there are minimal cooking facilities, but it's stocked with dishes, fridge and microwave and was just fine for my needs. Fairhaven is 5 minutes away and offers great restaurants and shops, the I5 is 5 minutes away. Bellingham has tons of parks and hiking trails and some of the finest scenery in the world. I found a couple of great bike rides. In all I enjoyed it enough to want to come back soon."

  • Excellent Get away!

"Had a great weekend: home is clean, comfortable, well appointed, peaceful, right on the water. A perfect get away. The beds are comfortable, lounge is good size for hanging out. Great deck off of the kitchen, and beyond the deck is the beach. I was in the master bedroom - it was a delight to look outside and see the water and pleasure boats passing by. It was a pleasure to correspond with the owner; prompt replies, hospitable. I would recommend this VRBO and plan to return."

  • Week at the beach with family

"We just spent a week at the beach, it was wonderful, we had 4 adults and 2 children and a dog. We didn't feel crowded and we had an extra cot to accommodate 1 child. Laura's place is beautiful and her choice of art was wonderful, a couple of small problems but my husband fixed them. Thank you again for letting us use your home Janet"
