  • Great condo, great location

"We stayed in this condo for a week and it was wonderful. Wonderfully furnished, comfortable, and an absolutely wonderful view. Paul, the owner, was super easy to work with. If I'm back in the area, I'd stay here again in a heartbeat."

  • We LOVED this house!

"My husband and I stayed 3 nights celebrating our 26th anniversary. The house is the perfect size for two. The kitchen was fully equipped and we loved the radiant heat combined with the gas stove. The glass by James Nowak was incredible and really added to the uniqueness of the house. The water feature outside is lovely as well as the beautiful view. We had several deer visit and eat the apples from the trees in the front of the house. The gas grill was also a very nice bonus as we cooked fresh fish on the grill several nights. We loved the building materials and the style of the house. I would highly recommend the Nowak house. Our stay on Lopez Island was so peaceful. We really enjoyed the laid back style and friendliness of the locals. It really is the friendly island!"

  • THE BEST WAY TO EXPERIENCE FRIDAY HARBOR!!

"I've been to Friday Harbor many times in my boat and have always loved it as a boater. For my recent trip without a boat, I wanted to give my girlfriend as close to a boater's experience as possible. That's when we found Otter Magic. This review will detail how it exceeded my expectations in every way. Accommodations: Otter Maginc is a "float home" which means it is a not a boat, but rather a compact apartment floating in a slip next to other boats in a marina. This pictures are accurate, the "bow" (front) of the home features a sitting room (seats 4-6) with lots of windows and views of the ferry and the main marina. Mid-ship is the galley (kitchen) and head (bathroom) with jacuzzi tub/shower combo, and to the stern (rear) is a TV room with a sofabed. Up the ladder/stairs (not typical stairs) is a queen bed and a sitting room. My favorite part of the float home were the outdoor areas: the bow has patio chars perfect for enjoying the outside while watching the incredible view, and the stern has a barbeque where I did all of my cooking. Everythng you could possibly need is already on board, so your provisioning should be limited to main food items. There is a stereo system on board that I connected an iPod to for background music when we wearn't listening to sounds of the marina. The bed was super-comfortable and there are windows and doors that you can use to regulate air flow pretty easily. Location: Otter Magic is in a perfect spot for vacationers who want privacy but also want the marina experience (readers who are boaters know what I am talking about). Nestled into the closest slip to the shore, the port (left) side of the home is mostly lush vegetation; the starboard side faces the dock in such a way that the stiing area and patio are almost completely private. You can draw shades on the windows for complete privacy if wanted. The cost for this privacy is a ten minute walk into town. What I liked about Otter Magic: NO BUGS! We stayed in mid-August and kept the windows and doors open most of the time. It has "barn-style" (upper and lower half) doors on the main and upper levels and provide great ventilation. ITS A BOAT. I liked the varnished wood throughout, and although we didn't use it this trip, the pot-bellied stove/fireplace in the sitting room looked really inviting. PRIVACY: You don't have the boom boxes or drunken sailors that I always seem to get assigned next to in standard marinas. Cons: We had to leave. Otter Magic was magical."

  • Rustic luxury in a serene setting

"We wanted our first trip to Orcas Island to be special, and this Eastsound cottage certainly delivered. It was spacious yet cozy and comfy, with lots of windows overlooking the trees and bay. Hubby wanted to sleep in the loft, but settled for one of the three bedrooms downstairs. It wasn't that cold out, but the heated floors in the bathroom were awesome. We cooked a few meals in the well-equipped kitchen, and made the short walk to town for other food -- excellent coffee, pastries and variety of restaurants suggested by the owner. George was wonderful and accommodating (we asked for, and received, an early check-in). We've told all our friends about it, and we'll definitely be back."
