  • More than expected: an amazing value

"We found the Oyster House to be more than we had hoped for! Pleasant surprises included the variety of toys for our youngsters, the immediate availability of the owner for any questions, and the stash of marshmallow-roasting sticks tucked near the fire pit. The master suite was absolutely incredible in space and views. The first night we enjoyed a beautiful fall evening on the porch overlooking the water, listening to the waves and making s'mores. The only improvements I could ask for would be more complete sets of pots/pans/tupperwear with accompanying lids in the kitchen. We found a lot of mis-matched items but not very many lids matching containers. It was merely a small inconvenience, and with a little creativity we made do."

  • Comfort, Cleanliness & Perfect Downtown Location

"Just enjoyed 3 nights in this very comfortable nicely appointed 1 bedroom cottage, located a block from the ferry and downtown Friday Harbor. For those of you who will be a "walk on" on the ferry and not have a car, it's a perfect location. Right below the cottage is a bakery (although unfortunately it was closed for the winter) and immediately adjacent is a restaurant called the Coho (rated quite high on TripAdvisor/Yelp). The San Juan Island Cheese Company, serving artisan cheeses, wines and breads) is directly across the street (we had some fabulous smoked gouda there), and King's Market is a block away. The cottage was very clean and management has provided everything you'd ever need to live comfortably, including complimentary roasted coffee (not in those little packets you get in hotels which make brown water--not coffee) with more than enough for our 3 day stay, purified water in the refrigerator, dishes, pots, pans, barbeque equipment, washer dryer and soaps, dish racks, wine bottle openers, you name it they have it for you. There was an abundance of plush towels, bedding was clean and warm and plenty of extra pillows. Games, books and cards are on hand and comfortable enough seating. The only caveat to all of these positive remarks is that we could hear road noise in the morning. as the street is a main street to drive down to the ferry line. While winter is fairly quiet, town does bustle in the summer time and it may be much noisier during tourist season which may or may not be a problem for others. Overall, this little cottage is priced really well and we do not hesitate to recommend it to others."

  • Idyllic Experience

"My family has been renting vacation places on Orcas Island for nearly 26 years (my husband and I honeymooned there) and deemed this apartment and these hosts our favorite. Our 16-year-old daughter and 21-year-old son agreed. The view is a 360-degree breath of fresh air -- forest on three sides and a phenomenal water view from the deck. The owners, Naomi and Harvey, are informative, helpful and gracious hosts who clearly want guests to share their love of this piece of paradise. In fact, Naomi introduced us to a great swimming hole we had never discovered. We had the special blessing of staying there when the grown sons -- piano and violin virtuosos -- were home. Phenomenal music drifted across the lawn as we sat on the deck, watching the sinking sun paint the horizon brilliant hues of pink and orange. Heavenly. We shall return."

  • Incredible cottage, area, owners

"We were lucky enough to enjoy this perfect slice of heaven for a whole month this summer and I cannot speak highly enough of our time here. The cottage itself is lovingly attended to with everything (and more) than one could need. Terrific linens and towels. We raided the garden on a regular basis - the strawberries rarely made it back to the cottage. The pond is serene and a short walk from the front porch. The location is 10 minutes to Eastsound. less to Westsound, maybe 20 minutes to the ferry and 25 to Moran State Park (all guesstimates) yet you feel a thousand miles from civilization. But there is also wi-fi, a really nice tv, washer-dryer, full kitchen and bath. We're going back for sure. Cannot go wrong with Susan and Wally - always helpful but left us to ourselves. Perfect slice of heaven."
