  • Idyllic and Tranquil Cabin in the Pines

"Mud Bay Cabin is an idyllic and tranquil vacation retreat; nestled in the pines on the southern part of Lopez Island. Karleen is the most generous and accommodating host. The cabin was perfect for the two of us. My boyfriend and I were visiting from Phoenix; celebrating his 50th birthday! We couldn't have been more happier with our vacation accommodations. The people of Lopez Island were truly very warm and friendly. We got to experience the 4th of July on the island; from the Fun Walk/Run, to the 4th of July Parade and barbeque. All of the parks are not to bee missed! Wonderful hiking trails and spectacular views...all a stone's throw from the Mud Cabin. Karleen gave us great insight on the areas to see...she even shared with us her personal experience of seeing Orcas off Iceberg Point the two nights before we left. We were able to retrace her steps the last night of our stay and we were witness to a doe and buck that crossed our path, as well as 20-30 Orcas swimming right off of Iceberg Point. It was a spectacular climax to our unforgettable stay on this wonderful island and vacation retreat at Mud Bay Cabin. I hope we are able to make it back here soon! Karleen, thank you for sharing this wonderful place with us."

  • Great for mid-sized groups and retreats

"This electronic review is a bit late because we signed the actually guest book before we left the house. I went with my highschool friends for our annual reunion - out of all the houses we have stayed at in the past years, this house was the most welcoming and well equipped! On top of being situated on a cozy and carefree island, the house had so many outdoor toys ready for us (bikes, short distance zip-line, volleyball, soccer, ect ect). The kitchen was very clean and organized, the rooms were well made and the washrooms were well equipped with extra towels. There was a guide to the island as well as recommendations for island activities. Excellent hospitality provided by the owners - thank you! We would love to go back and would definitely recommend this to others!"

  • Lazy sunsets across the bay...

"We wanted a quiet, peaceful getaway and this ON-the-bay cottage delivered! As each day faded, we kicked our shoes off, opened up a bottle of wine and watched the gentle bay slowly change hues as the sun sank beyond the horizon. After a day exploring the island's many nearby natural attractions -- Spencer Spit, Iceberg Point, Watmough Bay -- we would return "home," sink into the comfortable furnishings and extend a toast to our good fortune in finding this one-of-a-kind property. A short walk away, we enjoyed the Love Dog Cafe, shopped at the Lopez Market and purchased delectable, drinkable souvenirs from the Lopez Island Vineyard. All in all, the Bay Inlet Beach Cottage is the perfect week-long escape for the weary traveler. We hope to make the trek from Iowa to this island gem again and again."

  • what a gem!

"Vista Bay rental house is a gem! The location, the views, and the house are all perfect. The house is beautifully arranged and maintained, immaculate and up-to-date, and very family- and children-friendly. Everything is either within walking, or a short drive to other beaches and parks. The house is so comfortable and inviting that we had to motivate ourselves to go explore other parts of Lopez Island. It was a wonderful family retreat at a very special part of the world, Lopez Island."
