More than words can explain!!
"Rutabaga is such a beautiful, relaxing getaway! We had a group of 6 people. My husband, two girls and myself stayed in the bunkhouse which was perfect with two twin beds and a queen bed as well as a bathroom with shower and an outdoor kitchen! If you haven't had the pleasure of using an outdoor kitchen this is your chance!! Even though we had the indoor kitchen in the cottage that my sister and her boyfriend stayed in. Having separate houses was very nice for sleeping, showering and privacy. The pictures online are beautiful but truly do not do justice for this property. We were all in awe of this place from the moment of arrival. My daughters 12 and 9 spent the first 30 mins or so taking photos of the cottage and bunkhouse. Location was wonderful with a 20 minute drive to Mount Constitution (which I highly recommend hiking to the summit). Each night we enjoyed peaceful campfires overlooking the fields, marina and water. The owners are available if you need anything. Each area is impeccably maintained and cleaned, the beds are comfortable and warm. There's not a negative thing about Rutabaga. We look forward to our next trip to the Islands and to enjoy this amazing place again."

"As the description says, it is at the end of the road. Though there are neighbors, the cottage is very remote. We, my husband, my daughters aged 11 & 13 and my mom-in-law were all quite taken with the idea of 'nothing & everything to do' at the same time. The cottage was very well equipped and accommodated our needs. We played cards, put together puzzles and became totally obsessed with looking for eagles and Orcas. We spotted the local Eagles but unfortunately we're not visited by Orcas. We had sunshine most of the time. Even the occasional marine layer did not put a damper on our get away. The cottage is clean, has a nice layout and has comfortable beds. If you are looking for a place to hangout inside and out with amazing views of the San Juans and off the beaten path then this is your place. Not to be missed, Melinda was very helpful and communicative."

"What a beautiful place to celebrate my 57th birthday. We sold our house on Orcas about 17 years ago, so I knew that this house was in a perfect location: close to Eastsound (the town), close to the ferry, close to the golf course, and close to West Sound. The house is as pictured, but lives even better; quality construction and smart design. The layout of the house is wonderful for two couples. They had their end of the house, with a bath and bedroom. We had our end of the house (closes off with a big sliding door) with large bedroom, separate master closet, laundry, and bathroom. The master bath has two sinks and a separate toilet/shower area.
The kitchen and main living area are connected. The view out the bank of sliding doors that run the length of the living room is spectacular. You can see Eastsound across the bay. The house stayed cool as it faces northeast and it wasn't a terribly hot week; and we opened many windows and the sliding doors to let the fresh air in.
The patio is private and quiet. You can hear the water below. The kitchen is set up for cooks; but we ate dinner out while we were on island. West Sound Cafe provided a beautiful setting and wonderful food. The same for Inn at Ship Bay. Rose's was perfect for lunch. A run to Island Market after unpacking allowed us to stock up on things we couldn't bring in the car.
There is WiFi (slow compared to off island, but worked well) and there was a TV in the living room and 2nd bedroom. The set of Mexican Train dominos in the game drawer led to a fun game night.
Our friends have already recommended Casa Verde to their friends. I just hope that they don't rent the house in mid-July, as we would like to return again. Thank you to the owner for sharing this wonderful house."

"Huckleberry House was the perfect place for our family of four to relax between a busy summer and the start of school. We walked to Olga Cafe and the Waterfront. When it rained, the house was a cozy place to play games and read. The kitchen and dining room table let us feed ourselves a couple times a day (and the laundry facilities helped out too!) We loved the architecture and the woodsy setting too ... We'll definitely be back!"
