"My kids and I took our bikes over to Shaw on the ferry. Terry gave us a map of the island and marked out some great places for my young sons to encounter nature. It was fantastic and passenger bike trips inter island are free with your westbound ticket. Everyone was very kind and the island feels very remote. But you can catch a ferry over to orcas for dinner if you don't feel like cooking. The cabin was comfortable and well appointed, but we spent most of our time biking around the island;) I can't wait to go back!"

"This was our first trip to the San Juan Islands. We were traveling with long time friends and this house was perfect for us. The view was fantastic and the patio was so inviting. She has everything that you need, even the firewood for the fire pit and charcoal and lighter for the grill. The quiet was refreshing. We could hear a car every so often but that was all. Donna had the menus to nearby restaurants which was helpful when we had lunch out. The San Juan Islands are a wonder. The water views, the friendliness of the islanders, the small villages and much more made this a memorable trip. We also did a whale watching tour from the island and that was exciting to see the hump backs and all their majesty. We would be glad to stay here again if we are fortunate enough to get to visit again."

"What a beautiful place to celebrate my 57th birthday. We sold our house on Orcas about 17 years ago, so I knew that this house was in a perfect location: close to Eastsound (the town), close to the ferry, close to the golf course, and close to West Sound. The house is as pictured, but lives even better; quality construction and smart design. The layout of the house is wonderful for two couples. They had their end of the house, with a bath and bedroom. We had our end of the house (closes off with a big sliding door) with large bedroom, separate master closet, laundry, and bathroom. The master bath has two sinks and a separate toilet/shower area.
The kitchen and main living area are connected. The view out the bank of sliding doors that run the length of the living room is spectacular. You can see Eastsound across the bay. The house stayed cool as it faces northeast and it wasn't a terribly hot week; and we opened many windows and the sliding doors to let the fresh air in.
The patio is private and quiet. You can hear the water below. The kitchen is set up for cooks; but we ate dinner out while we were on island. West Sound Cafe provided a beautiful setting and wonderful food. The same for Inn at Ship Bay. Rose's was perfect for lunch. A run to Island Market after unpacking allowed us to stock up on things we couldn't bring in the car.
There is WiFi (slow compared to off island, but worked well) and there was a TV in the living room and 2nd bedroom. The set of Mexican Train dominos in the game drawer led to a fun game night.
Our friends have already recommended Casa Verde to their friends. I just hope that they don't rent the house in mid-July, as we would like to return again. Thank you to the owner for sharing this wonderful house."

"I've made staying at 'Dancing Deer' a habit. I've vacationed here over the past 4 or 5 years The location is by far the most beautiful on the island. Each year that I plan a visit to Orcas Island, I can't help but stay in this home even if I"m traveling alone. The home is always well maintained and clean and I always feel like I've just arrived home after a hard day at work. One year I shared the home with 3 friends and we all felt like we had enough 'space' and were not getting in each others way. Susan always makes it a pleasure to stay at Dancing Deer. I have asked Susan (owner) numerous questions about events that are scheduled during my stay on Orcas and she always provides interesting details for several excursions. I happened to be staying at Dancing Deer when all of those moon phases mentioned by Susan (prior review) occurred and it was spectacular. The view was like being in a planetarium. I'm currently planning my trip to Orcas Island for next year and I'm pretty sure it's easy to guess where I'll be staying."
