Recent Olga reviews

  • relaxing

"Our first time visit to Orcas was wonderful, the Island is beautiful and has a very peaceful vibe to it. The Olga house met all of our needs, it is well equipped and clean. If only the Olga Store was still open…. We spent most of our time on the deck relaxing and watching the deer or at the dock fishing. Our swim in Mountain Lake was incredible, oysters and prawns at Buck Bay a great experience. Our trip to Orcas was the favourite trip of our summer!"

  • Serenity in the San Juan Islands

"My wife and I shared a two night rental of this home with long-time friends, from Vancouver Island, who had found the property on VRBO and made the booking. We have been condo dwellers in downtown Vancouver for the past 11 years and, while we are frequent visitors to Seattle and Washington state, we were looking forward to our first visit to Orcas Island being in a home rather than a resort. We were delighted with this rental. The house is nicely designed for two couples, offering casual shared space in the kitchen, dining area and living room, while offering privacy and separation of the bedrooms and baths. The home was thoroughly clean. Decent towels and lines were included. The kitchen was very well equipped, functional and clean. The dining area and living room are comfortable and inviting, with views over the back yard (regularly visited by deer) and to the ocean. Wi-fi worked well. My wife and I used the main floor bedroom which has a double bed, which might be a bit small for some guests. The upstairs bedroom was spacious. The home is within easy driving distance of Eastsound. Use the owner's excellent directions as your GPS might take you to the far end of the road. Access a short distance via a steep gravel road. We initially contemplated taking our sports car but were glad that we took our SUV because our very low sports car would have bottomed-out on the gravel access road. The location is close to Moran State Park for walks to the lakes and a hike (or drive) up Mount Constitution. Over the past 10 years, m wife and I have rented a number of apartments in Italy and the south of France through VRBO and other sites. This home was much more accommodating, complete and clean than has been our experience with European rentals."

  • Lovely home in a very lovely place

"Lovely, clean, and well-appointed house for our group of young children and adults. Spacious house, comfortable and warm feeling in the home. Very quiet and serene. Lovely views and well-designed layout both inside and from the deck. Deck had a table and chairs where we lounged and ate. Kids enjoyed playing the yard with croquet, soccer balls, and horseshoes. We took out the kayak most days into Buck bay and surrounding areas. Easy access to groceries and shopping in EastSound, 15 minute drive or so. Kids loved going down to Buck Bay mornings at low tide to explore the shoreline, especially flipping over rocks to find small crabs. Moran state park was nearby for hikes and has a great swimming and playground area for kids. We are bikers and rented bikes form the excellent Wildlife cycles in Eastsound and took several rides around Orcas and a day trip to Lopez to ride there. The climb up to Mt. Constitution in Moran Park is a punishing short, steep ride but incredible views. A must visit while your on Orcas, by car or bike. We also enjoyed an excellent meal and drinks at nearby Doe Bay Resort cafe. One bonus of the house was the nearby buck bay shellfish company. It's a 5 minute walk from the house and we had more than one meal with their great seafood. Owner clearly communicated about everything we needed to know about house during booking and before we arrived. Things went smoothly all around. Overall, highly recommend. We had a great vacation here and would come back."

  • Private beach with view!

"My parents and I rented this little cottage for 3 nights in September. We had amazing weather and the house and grounds were perfect for us. My mother loved the kitchen, and my Dad and I the view of the water, private beach and view of Mt. Baker. I spent all of the mornings watching the sunrise over Mt. Baker just to go back and watch the alpenglow on Mt. Baker as the sunset behind us. Neighbors were quiet. House had everything we needed. I believe the owner is a descendant of the original homesteader and we chatted with some family a bit when they drove down the lane. Very welcoming and friendly. The rental company was easy to work with and gave very detailed directions on how to get to this little part of the island. The only thing I would change for next time is maybe to pay for the housecleaning as the list of things to do made us a bit nervous. That said, I promptly received my full deposit back. Would definitely return."
