  • Great little studio

"I made my first trip to San Juan Island for a long-weekend birthday getaway. As soon as I saw this sweet place on Airbnb, I knew it was just where I wanted to stay. Easy walking distance to downtown, but enough away from the hustle bustle to feel comfy and at home. I enjoyed breakfast in the sunshine outside on the little patio, and a to-go burrito lunch from next door Tia's was not to be missed. Donny guided me on a great hike down Mount Young essentially via text message--the joys of modern technology! And the proprietor of the small sporting goods store on Spring Street around the corner from Blair Ave, where I bought a sun hat, mapped out a nice circuit tour of the island for me that included a some locals' favorites, such as the oreo cows on False Bay Road and the camel and llama across from the San Juan Vineyards winery. I got all over the island, took another nice hike in Lime Kiln SP and adjacent county land trust trails, and all in all had an idyllic weekend. Many thanks to Donny and Sarah for being such warm, welcoming hosts (even via text message) and providing such a cozy home away from home."

  • Beautiful country setting

"I was on a business trip to Seattle and decided to visit the San Juan Islands. I stayed at this absolutely charming getaway. The entire property was like a garden. My favorite was sitting by the pond and enjoying the tranquil quiet and beautiful views. I will being going back with my family soon!"

  • Relaxing Retreat

"We just returned from a week-long stay at Serenity Pond, and had a perfect vacation. My 2 young kids loved playing in the yard. They found tiny frogs, slugs, dragon flies, and saw deer and foxes on a daily basis. The house was amazingly clean and organized. Sylvia, the owner, was very responsive and helpful in providing suggestions of things to do in the area, how to catch the ferry, etc. Very charming stay! Thank you and we hope to be back again for another visit!"

  • Stayed here twice, and will stay again!

"What a spectacular summer! We drove up and heard: "just leave everything in the car and come see the whales!" So we did, and all across the horizon were orcas, jumping, splashing, playing. You could hear the "thwack" from their tails across the water. Later, when it was quieter, you could hear the "whoosh" as they breathed out. And EVERY SINGLE DAY after that, they came back to visit. As did the eagles, flying fast, then swooping into the nearby trees. A juvenile bald eagle came real close, just watching us, as we watched him. So quiet here, you could hear the kayakers, out for the sunset paddle, down in the water just below the deck. They waved at us; we waved back. It's a big house, three levels, including a separate (and cool) basement deck that wraps around the house). Beautifully furnished, with some whimsical and some spectacular paintings. And you won't believe the kitchen. A super-fancy gas stove with burners so precise they turn on and off by themselves to keep an even heat. And absolutely everything you could want in kitchen equipment, even a pair of spare beaters for the hand mixer (in case one paid gets lost, I guess). Very quiet dishwasher. Hard to find the first time, but easy once you've been there once, so get directions. Adds to the quiet. Such a wonderful time. We've done it before, and we'll do it again."
