"We just returned from an extraordinary trip to the San Juan Islands. What made it so special was this fabulous house and it's incredible location on Mitchell Bay. Every morning we would greet the family of deer that came into the back yard off the deck. When we weren't lounging on the deck, we were enjoying the restaurant equipped kitchen, large enough for 8 chefs! The Master Suite was truly a highlight, as well. This is a keeper for next year!"

  • Everything we hoped for

"We had a fabulous stay at Tranquil Cove. The directions and instructions provided in advance were extremely helpful, and the house was well outfitted for our needs. We did a good amount of food prep at the house and all the implements we needed were available. And what a view. We were greeted on arrival by a mother otter swimming in the bay, and spotted one of her babies later in the week. A heron spent every evening fishing in the bay. Several bald eagles, including a young one, were frequently perched in the trees. And to the delight of all we watched orcas from the deck on three out of the seven days. In the evenings we watched 300+ meter cargo vessels coming towards us from the Straits -- and turning north to Port Robert. We used the iPhone MarineTraffic app to identify them: ships from Denmark, South Korea, Japan, and the UK. It was difficult to motivate ourselves to explore the island when we had such a fantastic vantage point just sitting on the deck with a glass of wine."

  • Wonderful Accommodations!

"I looked high and low for a place to stay in Friday Harbor during the high season with no luck. Finally, after checking with VRBO we found this wonderful studio apartment. It completely exceeded our expectations. It was clean, comfortable, spacious and modern. It's a quick 5 minute drive into town. We were able to buy groceries and fix our breakfast and lunches in the kitchen to take on our daily adventures around the island. The owners live on the property and were so friendly and helpful with any questions we had and recommendations on things to do. They made us feel like family. We loved our stay so much that we may make it an annual trip. Don't pass up this wonderful rental for your Friday Harbor visit!!!!!"

  • Comfort, Cleanliness & Perfect Downtown Location

"Just enjoyed 3 nights in this very comfortable nicely appointed 1 bedroom cottage, located a block from the ferry and downtown Friday Harbor. For those of you who will be a "walk on" on the ferry and not have a car, it's a perfect location. Right below the cottage is a bakery (although unfortunately it was closed for the winter) and immediately adjacent is a restaurant called the Coho (rated quite high on TripAdvisor/Yelp). The San Juan Island Cheese Company, serving artisan cheeses, wines and breads) is directly across the street (we had some fabulous smoked gouda there), and King's Market is a block away. The cottage was very clean and management has provided everything you'd ever need to live comfortably, including complimentary roasted coffee (not in those little packets you get in hotels which make brown water--not coffee) with more than enough for our 3 day stay, purified water in the refrigerator, dishes, pots, pans, barbeque equipment, washer dryer and soaps, dish racks, wine bottle openers, you name it they have it for you. There was an abundance of plush towels, bedding was clean and warm and plenty of extra pillows. Games, books and cards are on hand and comfortable enough seating. The only caveat to all of these positive remarks is that we could hear road noise in the morning. as the street is a main street to drive down to the ferry line. While winter is fairly quiet, town does bustle in the summer time and it may be much noisier during tourist season which may or may not be a problem for others. Overall, this little cottage is priced really well and we do not hesitate to recommend it to others."
