  • Bit of Heaven on San Juan Island

"My husband and I wanted to escape the East Coast and its hectic pace. When we arrived at Point Caution and this property, we found a bit of heaven. We loved how nature enveloped us, the sun...the eagles...the channel...the fish. We even saw a double rainbow. It was a spectacular week enjoying all the islands have to offer. This kitchen is the best stocked of any home I have rented. My favorite spot was the fire pit, ready each evening to lead us into dusk and rest. You will be enchanted by the location. Head west to this special getaway."

  • Relaxing Retreat

"We just returned from a week-long stay at Serenity Pond, and had a perfect vacation. My 2 young kids loved playing in the yard. They found tiny frogs, slugs, dragon flies, and saw deer and foxes on a daily basis. The house was amazingly clean and organized. Sylvia, the owner, was very responsive and helpful in providing suggestions of things to do in the area, how to catch the ferry, etc. Very charming stay! Thank you and we hope to be back again for another visit!"

  • Peaceful and perfect!

"My husband and I stayed at Sawmill Creek Cottage for three nights in January. Our aim was to experience the island in the "off-season" and decide whether we really wanted to move there. Within three hours of arrival, we were sure San Juan Island was the right home for us. In large part, that may be due to Sawmill Creek Cottage, which was small but comfortably livable, well appointed, clean, and very peaceful. It is only a short trip (by car or by foot!) from the heart of town, yet the cottage is secluded and quiet. Its waterfront location offers birdwatching and peaceful views from your breakfast table, the tumbling creek provides just the right amount of white noise, and the huge willow tree was beautiful in the winter... it must be spectacular in full foliage! The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare good meals, which really saved money during our stay. The nearby grocery store (in town) has prices very comparable to those in Seattle. The queen-sized bed is wonderfully comfortable, and the bathtub is perfect for soaking! The internet access was reliable and did everything we needed it to do. The overall feel of the cottage is vintage/country, so don't expect granite countertops and luxury fittings, but the well-maintained, old-fashioned feel was cozy, welcoming, and induced plenty of relaxation! We will definitely be back as we hunt for a more permanent residence on the island!"

  • Waterhouse, Take Me Away.........

"As I am hiding in my bedroom back in Texas, listening to a house full of shrieking teenagers, I am transporting myself back in time (one month) to the Waterhouse. My husband and I stayed for three nights. We holed up at the Waterhouse except for a few excursions into town to shop at King's Market (we did stop there right off the ferry but needed to add a little to our groceries once we decided we were definitely staying put), antique and used book shopping, our Christmas ornament for our travel tree, and finding Joe to make my beautiful meat and cheese boards (which is a whole 'nother story). We had all the windows open the first day due to our luggage unloading and unpacking but quickly cranked them back down and had the fireplace going, which quickly got lit every morning for coffee and was great to have on at night with wine. We were able to prepare wonderful meals due to all the utensils available and that wickedly cool propane cookstove! At our daily treks to the cove, we found starfish, sea glass, awesome driftwood, and beautiful rocks. Oh, and the grass around the property was such a lovely emerald green! Eagles, ducks, sea lions (at least that's what my husband thinks he saw), and deer came to visit us, too. The house is situated on the property so that all of the rooms have a great view of the ocean right outside the windows. It was great to wake up and look out the window first thing laying in bed to see the water. I only wish we could have experienced an awesome lightning storm and/or whales. I already feel relaxed just picturing all of this again. Suzanne was awesome!! Thank you so much for being so trusting with your property to allow people to visit and enjoy it! We will be back."
