  • You Will Never Want to Leave!

"This was a warm, welcoming, and incredible place. The location is phenomenal with unimagined views of Rosario Strait. Not only are you treated to the vast, calm water and expansive views of many other islands, but also to boats, ships, and kayaks, none of which invade the intimacy and privacy of this amazing cottage on the bluff. You will also be treated to encounters with/views of eagles, dolphins, deer, hummingbirds, seals, sea lions -- all from the hot tub, the deck, or almost any room in the house. Whales are possible with patience and luck. The lush vegetation of the area and the ever-present deer become part of the house through the kitchen and bathroom windows. All windows open wide to let the house and the wondrous location merge and become one -- with or without screens at your discretion. The house is furnished exquisitely -- fully functional and with quality items. Amenities are robust including a wide range of TV/music options, wifi, laundry, and kitchen amenities. The house is a delight for those of us concerned about the fragile environment of the islands, with full recycling, green household products, and a compost toilet system. Access to the ocean for beaching, swimming, fishing, and boating is nearby. The private roads in the area are wonderful for romantic walks or family day hikes. More strenuous activity is available with Moran State Park and Mt. Constitution nearby. The carefully built and finished craftsman cottage is a perfect, intimate venue for romance and couples relaxation. Doug is the premier host and could not be more welcoming or hospitable, and returned our cleaning deposit almost before we got back home! We cannot wait to go back!"

  • Delightful and unique

"We LOVED our time on the island and especially in your lovely cabin. We went out with a realtor looking at property and places for sale and my husband kept saying he wished we could just find a place like that! Thanks so much for making such a unique place available for people to rent. I know we will be going back."

  • Good for Large Groups

"Maggie's Manor is well equipped for large groups (we had 10 people). Kitchen is well stocked. There were plenty of towels. Lots of seating, deck is great, and fire pit out back was nice. It is a very peaceful place with a great view of Deer Harbor. That being said, there were a few things that were a little funky. The kitchen and upstairs bathroom had carpeting! Not a good idea. You can't sweep it and who knows what is in it. Kinda gross. There are two sinks in the kitchen island which seems like a good idea but there are no sprayer nozzles so you can't clean out the sink without pouring pitchers of water in them. Plus the faucets swing out over the counter so if you accidently turn on the water with them like that you've just run water all over the counter and floor. The water pressure was too low for the main kitchen sink nozzle to spray so again no way to clean out the sink without a lot of effort. Garbage disposal doesn't really work; caused a blockage and the sink wouldn't drain, had to do some ad hoc plumbing work. Doors don't close very well. Main floor bathroom could use some updating. So, some things that could be fixed to make it totally top notch. But, nothing was a show stopper and it was a great weekend."

  • Perfect location for us!

"We were excited when we booked this property because of its proximity to prime whale watching locations. It did not disappoint. The first night we sat on the deck and watched the Orcas in the straight. We also had the company of a deer and a fox. We loved the location because it was far enough away from the town that we did not have to deal with crowds but close enough that a run into the grocery store was easy peasy. It was also a perfect distance from the many areas we liked to frequent. The house was exactly as portrayed in the pictures. The kitchen was well-stocked and he rooms were comfortable. We enjoyed making use of the porch and the grill. The house was plenty big enough to accommodate the three couples that stayed. We also appreciated the owners looking out for us and letting us know when the whales were spotted near our location. It was a wonderful place and we look forward to returning."
