A Dream Vacation
"This beautiful home was perfect for us - one week with two couples, and another with our kids and grandchild. We drank in the glorious views, relaxed in the hot tub, forayed down to the private beach, and explored the island. Amenities in the house are surprisingly complete. We just added food. Basics and spices, appliances, even a bread maker were at our disposal. Plentiful videos, toys, and books kept our grand daughter busy in the evenings.
You are secluded here, very private, not close to town. Neighbors on one side, never visible behind a curtain of thick trees, were nonetheless ready to help with directions, and cleared the beach path when a tree broke and blocked it. Quiet folks up across the road came to notify us about a temporary power outage. The landlords, Anita and Conrad, were always available by phone and helpful if needed.
This house was our little piece of heaven!"

"We stayed here for the first half of our amazing trip to Lopez. This end of the island is quiet even by Lopez standards because hardly anybody lives this far out. The property itself, as can be seen from the pictures, is amazing. We wanted to stay here for the whole week, but it was only available for the first half of the week. The owner then suggested we move to his other property on the other end of the island (which is also amazing...see my other review for it), but Nowak House is our favorite."

"This was the perfect property for quiet, relaxing, and soaking up the true beauty on the San Juan islands! The cottage was perfect with all the necessary amenities to hide away for a couple of days. The yard leading to the private cove is not something you see with most homes on the islands. Two beautiful water pools lead you down to a pebble and crush shell shore front with a fire pit at the waters edge. My wife and I enjoyed spending our evenings just sitting in the sun and watching the river otters come into the cove for a late night snack. As the sun went down, all the amenities to build a fire are available. Truly a romantic setting that is hard to match. My wife and I have been fortunate to have been able to travel many times to the Caribbean and this might be one of our new favorite spots. With Oracas Island not having a ton of overbuilt properties, you really feel far away from it all. The property is perfectly located just a 1/2 mile from restaurants and shops in Eastsound, 15-20 minutes to Olga or Doe Bay on the eastern side, and 15 minutes to Deer Harbor on the western side. (Speed limits don't go above 45 mph, so you're actually closer then you think). Heidi, the owner of the property, is amazing. Though we really only seen her one time after checking in to get the run down on the property and once briefly a couple days later, she has an amazing personality. She is the type of host that the next time we stay here I would like to invite her to hangout by the fire with us or even dinner. My wife and I would recommend taking the whale watching excursion with Deer Harbor Charters. Do NOT book through Island Excursions!! Deer Habor offers two trips daily and you will learn a lot about Oracas from Dave and Tray. They were great! If you are looking to get out one day and really see the sights of the islands, Moran Park has a view point that is absolutely breathe taking. You can see almost every island in the San Juan's from here. This is a fairly quiet and laid back island, so for one day of dealing with crowds and more restaurants and shops, you can take the ferry to Friday Harbor, but I guarantee you can't wait to get back to this beautiful property to enjoy "true nature"! Thank you, Heidi for making Megan and my 3rd anniversary one to remember by sharing your beautiful home and property with us!! You will see us again in the near future when a therapeutic vacation is much needed!!"

"This cabin, which was really part of the owners house is very private and quiet. The unit is clean and large. Very comfortable. Hot tub outside and a wood fired sauna inside. The owner is delightful and very helpful. I would definitely stay here again."
