  • A breath of fresh air!

"We have now stayed twice at this property and loved it both times! Once this past summer as a short romantic retreat and again with our family in February. The house is clean and very functionally. The downstairs area is like an apartment of its own with a few beds, a bathroom, sitting area with woodburning stove and even a kitchen! Great for a separate family, kids area, etc. The main floor has a few bedrooms, bathroom, living area and kitchen. It's the deck I loved. Located off the kitchen, we drank our coffee each morning and in the evening we'd have a glass of wine (or two), often cooking our dinner of oysters and clams on the BBQ. Yes, I said OYSTERS! The house sits just a 100 yards or so from the bay, and the bay is loaded with oysters! Dennis and his family provided us with buckets and rake and we ate oysters until we could eat no more. Kayaks, a row boat and bicycles were available for us, too! Both at the front of the property and the back (on the water) were firepits and sitting areas. Just a beautiful spot and a wonderful stay!!"

  • Perfect for an Extended Family or Group

"We rented this house for the weekend for a family wedding in town. Overall, we were very pleased! The the whole house was very clean, bedrooms were comfortable, plenty of bedding, and the kitchen was well equipped. Big beautiful home on lots of acreage, and since it was August, there were ripe blackberries on the bushes out behind the house. It was just 10 minutes into downtown Mt. Vernon. We even found a plate of fresh homemade scones upon our arrival!"

  • Just what we needed

"This was a trip for our daughter's college graduation. We had a full house the first night and just four of us for the rest of the stay. The cabin handled everyone beautifully. The directions were great, the house was even better than described. Beautifully furnished, cozy comfy beds, great decor. Kitchen was very well appointed- there wasn't anything we were in need of when making meals for many. We weren't sure about being "unplugged" for the length of our stay prior to our arrival, but it turned out to be so nice... my husband and daughter actually relaxed and we enjoyed family movies and games. Hiked the Nooksack trail and took a trip to Mt. Baker and various stops along the way. We didn't even need good weather...we will definitely be coming back to Shuksan in future! Thank you for providing such an amazing family get away!"
