"We just returned from a week-long stay at Serenity Pond, and had a perfect vacation. My 2 young kids loved playing in the yard. They found tiny frogs, slugs, dragon flies, and saw deer and foxes on a daily basis. The house was amazingly clean and organized. Sylvia, the owner, was very responsive and helpful in providing suggestions of things to do in the area, how to catch the ferry, etc. Very charming stay! Thank you and we hope to be back again for another visit!"Guest: Carolyn Date of Stay: June 2014 Review Submitted: July 9, 2014View listing
"Our family has been going to Birch Bay since the early 1950's when we lived in Bellingham. For the past 40+ years we rented the same cabin at the south end of the Bay, beginning with my grandmother in 1968 and almost continuously through children and grandchildren , with our last stay in August 2013, when with growing numbers, we needed to find a place that could accommodate our growing families . We found this property toward the north end called Fairview/Hillview which we rented for the first time in August, 2014. Though somewhat difficult for some of us "older" members of the family who had been so connected to the previous cabin after all those years, to make a change, it accommodated all of us with a great location across from the beach and plenty of yard space for the grandchildren to play safely . The accommodations provide different levels of privacy as needed and worked well for our family. The owner, Ron, had high expectations of his tenants and we appreciated his attention to detail. It was a great experience, and we look forward to going back next summer as well. Great place- you won't be disappointed."Guest: Les Date of Stay: August 2014 Review Submitted: December 5, 2014View listing
"Again this year, 4 quilters from San Juan Island rented this vacation home for a mini-retreat (quilting, shopping at the excellent fabric and yarn shops in town, delicious dinner at the Petite Wine Bar, and a trip to the Quilt Museum in La Conner). We had a fabulous time! It's so nice to have a place that sleeps all of us, has cooking facilities, and space to set up our sewing tables. There's plenty of light in the daytime, and we brought Ott lamps for the evening. We would have liked to have a tea pot for boiling our tea water, and a working microwave oven. Hopefully next time. We'd also encourage the owner to get a new cleaning service. Even so, it's such a good location, comfortable, and affordable, we will be back again next year!"Guest: Robin A. "My friends and I spent a fantastic week at this house over the fourth of July weekend. It was truly magical! There was plenty of adventure and relaxing things to do on the island during the day. At night, we were all just captivated by the fantastic views from the upper deck. We spent so many evenings out there around the fire and it never got old! On the last night, I don't think anyone slept inside, instead just falling asleep under the stars! The inside is fantastic too... spacious, well kept and perfect for a large group (we had eight adults at the peak). The decks and view, though, are what makes this property a perfect ten!"Guest: Stella Date of Stay: June 2014 Review Submitted: July 7, 2014View listing
