"We love this vacation home! This was our second time staying here. The first time was in May of 2013. Our family had such fond memories of it that we had to come back! We are a family of seven with five children between the ages of 4-12, and one of them broke her leg 3 weeks before we arrived. Between work, summer activities, and a broken leg, we needed a family vacation to reconnect and reenergize. Elk Trail Lodge was the perfect place!
The home is beautiful! It is up to date, has everything you need, and is very spacious. There is a magnificent view of Mount Rainier, and the outdoor space is great. The large lawn allows children to run around and play tag. We used the grill for awesome steaks and burgers and the fire pit for yummy s'mores. It was so fun to eat outside on the outdoor dining set. Another bonus was the very short, 2-3 minute, walk to Johnson creek. Our children absolutely loved it. They threw rocks into it, stuck their feet in it, walked in it, sat on rocks, etc. This is definitely a place to relax, unwind, and be with those you love.
We were also able to go to Mount Rainier and Mount Saint Helen's. It was a short drive to the entrance of Mount Rainier and a little more than an hour drive to Mount Saint Helen's, definitely doable with kids. We were able to see some spectacular sights, do some short hikes (even with a child with a broken leg!), and learn about the events of the eruption of Mount Saint Helen's.
Carie was a joy to work with! She was friendly, thoughtful, pleasant, and considerate. She made sure everything was great. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful home, Carie! You have helped us have unforgettable "cherished" family memories. We hope we can make more there someday!"
