"My husband, teenage son and I found the Homestead very well appointed (including Wifi so that my husband could do a little work) , very clean, and Charmingly decorated. Enjoyed the mineral baths, weekend concert, little shops, restaurants and Sunday farmer's Market just down the road, in Berkeley Springs and went hiking, horse back riding, clay shooting, boating and swimming at the lake, in nearby Cacapon State park. Enjoyed the cozy evenings and early mornings on the patio, cooking, and relaxing in the house and by the pond. I don't recommend this beautifully restored House for elderly or those who are not "sure footed" ( there are many little steps and uneven floors) but we found it utterly enchanting and it was wonderful that we could bring our little dog along."

Nice weekend at Treetops, Cacapon State Park and Berkeley Springs
"My husband and I, with two other couples, chose Cacapon State Park for our annual hiking weekend destination and we rented Treetops Cottage. The house was comfortable and clean with lots of seating area in the living room and a wonderful wood burning stove, with lots of wood provided. There was a large deck and screened in porch area also. The kitchen was relatively small but well-equipped and totally adequate. We all slept well in comfortable double (or larger) beds. The owner was extremely responsive through the booking process and answered all of my many questions with almost immediate email responses and phone calls. What we most appreciated was that because the house was not booked immediately before and after our stay, the owner gave us great flexibility in check in and check out times, which amounted to our having almost a full extra day to enjoy the area. Very generous! and made the weekend feel much less hurried. There was great hiking in the park (about a 10 minute drive from the house) and several of us went trap shooting for the first time ever at the park (reservations are a good idea). We had never shot before and the instructor, Arnold, was outstanding-- extremely patient, knowledgeable, helpful and good-humored. Enjoyed dinner in Berkeley Springs (also about 10 minutes drive from the house) one night at Cottage Inn/ParkView restaurant and all of us (including the vegetarians) had good meals. The staff there was most accommodating as some in our party wanted to watch a particular football game, so they willingly adjusted the TVs to our preferences. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our stay, recommend the house, and look forward to returning in the future."

"My 3 daughters, 2 granddaughters, and I stayed at Lazy Day River Retreat when we visited Berkley Springs. The house was wonderful! Three nicely furnished bedrooms with extremely comfortable beds refreshed us each night. The kitchen was stocked with everything we could possibly need and was clean, clean, clean. Friday we went to Cacapon State Park and rode horses and when we got back to the house we climbed into the hot tub to relax our tired muscles. It was super clean with no strong smell of chemicals and just the right temperature. We sat there, talked, and enjoyed the views of nature. Saturday it rained most of the day BUT we found Downton Abbey in the extensive video library--there's something for everyone and lots of new releases. Someone finally pried the control from my hand and we left Downton for Grand Torino. Ate at the Panorama Restaurant and returned for another session in the hot tub and a cozy fire in the fireplace. Did I tell you how much I enjoyed the hot tub? The house is in a private neighborhood with very few neighbors, an extremely large lot with pawpaw trees and a wrap-a-round deck with table, chairs and, yes, a great hot tub! I like to go barefooted in the house and the carpets were clean and super soft! The hardwood floors were shiny and smooth but not slippery. If you are going to the state park from the house, take Cold Valley Road--it is a scenic shortcut. I can't wait to go back!"
