"Loved everything about the place. The wrought iron spiral staircase is pretty dangerous. One friend cut his head pretty bad and another bruised up his leg. Yes, my friends are clumsy but a bit of padding on the underside of those stairs might not be a bad idea."

"My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Husky's Hideaway (we called it "Beagle's Hideaway" for our stay as our senior beagle was travelling with us) over Labor Day weekend. The cabin is unique, cozy, clean, wonderfully secluded, and well stocked - including dog treats! We kind of want a cabin just like it. Berkeley Springs is very close but we only ventured there one day. We went for a walk, grilled out, read books, played games, and mostly we relaxed. The master bedroom bed is comfortable and we slept well. We did not use the other bedroom or loft at all. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking and the grill even had a charcoal chimney for ease-of-lighting. I cannot comment on the water access as the path looked too steep for me with a blind dog and we did not bother to look for the easier way around - it wasn't important to us. Maybe next time. Mai-Li was really a joy to work with for reservations. I would recommend this cabin for anyone."

"My 3 daughters, 2 granddaughters, and I stayed at Lazy Day River Retreat when we visited Berkley Springs. The house was wonderful! Three nicely furnished bedrooms with extremely comfortable beds refreshed us each night. The kitchen was stocked with everything we could possibly need and was clean, clean, clean. Friday we went to Cacapon State Park and rode horses and when we got back to the house we climbed into the hot tub to relax our tired muscles. It was super clean with no strong smell of chemicals and just the right temperature. We sat there, talked, and enjoyed the views of nature. Saturday it rained most of the day BUT we found Downton Abbey in the extensive video library--there's something for everyone and lots of new releases. Someone finally pried the control from my hand and we left Downton for Grand Torino. Ate at the Panorama Restaurant and returned for another session in the hot tub and a cozy fire in the fireplace. Did I tell you how much I enjoyed the hot tub? The house is in a private neighborhood with very few neighbors, an extremely large lot with pawpaw trees and a wrap-a-round deck with table, chairs and, yes, a great hot tub! I like to go barefooted in the house and the carpets were clean and super soft! The hardwood floors were shiny and smooth but not slippery. If you are going to the state park from the house, take Cold Valley Road--it is a scenic shortcut. I can't wait to go back!"

"Where do I start?
The Old Homestead in a nice place for a weekend getaway. It's out in the country, but not to far from town. My wife and I enjoyed the (step back in time) feel of the place. A little to rustic for her taste. The shower and lighting in the down stairs bath could use an upgrade.
We loved how the floor kinda leaned to the right. Don't drop anything, you'll have to go to the other end cabin to pick up, lol."
