"This house was awesome! Everything about it was amazing from the interior decorations to every picture, plaque, etc on the wall. A favorite was the tree inside with the bears in the tree and the monkey rug that was in-bedded in the floor. You can tell that much thought went into the decoration of the home and for the five of us it was extra special because of the religious memorabilia all of the yard and house that connected us to the owners in a very special way. We felt honored to be the last guests in this house and really didn't want to leave. We enjoyed our time of fellowship sitting in the amazing living rooms both upstairs and downstairs, on the wrap around porch, and the amazing area down by the river. We took our guitar down there and just sang the night away one evening. It was so very relaxing so we thank you for creating this atmosphere. We were totally impressed on how well stocked the kitchen was being that we brought all our meals and cooked every night. I can go on and on about the house but bottom line is awesome and thank you for opening and sharing your home with us. As for day activities, we enjoyed white water rafting and hiking. Everything was so convenient and only about a half hour drive at most to do any activities."

  • Awesome!

"We absolutely loved the condo! Never got around to using the fireplace though. The heat from the baseboards was more than enough to keep us plenty warm and cozy. And it is a very short walk to the Soaring Eagle Express lift. We are already planning next year's trip!"

  • Loved our stay here!

"We stayed in this cozy little lodge from January 6-10, 2014. It was very comfortable and clean and was perfect for us. The owner was great to work with and when we encountered a minor problem, she had the repairman there quickly. I hope to be able to go back to Snowshoe annually and would love to call this my home every time I go back!"

  • Family Ski Trip

"After reading all the great reviews about this condo we had high expectations and this place didn't disappoint. Tastefully decorated and spacious enough for 6 adults not to mention the fantastic location. We drove up from Florida and met our friends there from Chicago and had an awesome week. The staff there was very professional and helpful. It was also obvious that the staff thought very highly of the owners. We had a great week there and would highly recommend this condo."

Canaan Valley Travel Tips

The Mountainous Canaan Valley Getaway Vacation Cabins

Although West Virginia was once part of Virginia, it became a state in its own right during the Civil War era. The state is proud of its historical heritage and offers many rich historical artifacts to visit as well as outdoor adventure. Because the state is so mountainous, a trip to West Virginia in the wintertime means skiing. You can choose private Canaan Valley vacation rentals with chef-inspired kitchens and cozy living rooms with fireplaces, perfect for enjoying a cup of hot chocolate after a day of skiing at the ski resort or river rafting in the spring and summer. For your next vacation, treat yourself to a “home away from home” as you speak directly to the owner of your Canaan Valley home or condo.

Pick the time of year that best suits your outdoor adventurous spirit and you will find the perfect Canaan Valley vacation rental. Whether you want to indulge in a whitewater river rafting trip, hike in Blackwater Falls State park or ski down the terrain at one of the ski resorts, you can do it all from your vacation paradise. Hikers will delight in Blackwater Falls day hikes. You can pack a lunch for your group at your Canaan Valley vacation rentals and explore a new breathtaking site every day. The beautiful falls are 65 feet high and fall to a gorge that is 525 feet in depth. For people in your party that do not wish to hike down to the base of the falls, they can enjoy the observation point on the rim. Others can take the stairs to the foot of the falls for a spectacular view that is best captured on film.

If you visit this park in the winter, there are cross country skiing and sledding opportunities. However, there is no season that falls short with recreational activities. Paddle boating, swimming, hiking, tennis, volleyball, nature programs, golfing and bicycling are all pastimes that are enjoyed during the warmer months. Horseback riding is a great way to experience the beauty of nature when the fall colors burst into vibrant hues. There is food available at the state park if you do not want to tote your lunch with you.
