  • Vandalia Vacay

"I just got back from a weekend at the Vandalia House in the Confluence Resort with some friends. What a wonderful 2 days we had. The house was immaculate and BEAUTIFUL! I felt like I was in an HGTV dream house! The beds were comfy, the kitchen well-stocked, the fireplace was gorgeous. It rained the first night, but no big deal, we sat around the large dining table playing board games, laughing hysterically and just enjoying each others' company. We got up the next morning, made a big farm-style breakfast, then headed out to fish and do some light hiking on one of the many trails. The area is so peaceful and stunningly beautiful that you can really commune with nature. We came back "home", got ready and went into the charming little town of Fayetteville where we ate dinner at The Secret Sandwich Society (YUM!). Great service, good food, good price! We went back to the house, sat around the campfire and talked about how much we were enjoying ourselves and how we'd come back to the Confluence Resort in a minute. If you go, you may make some new friends with an adorably friendly brown and white dog who loves to have his tummy rubbed before he goes back home and a beautiful, fluffy, friendly cat who hung out with us ALL NIGHT! He/she was still on the porch when we woke up the next morning! Don't worry about them, though. They both have homes nearby. The only "complaint" I have is that the directions we were given were incomplete. They end at the Patterson House, which is fine, if that's the house you rented. Since the road turns into all gravel and you see signs reading, "private property-no trespassing", you really wonder if you're in the right area, especially if you arrive near dark. A little disconcerting. Oh! And if you want to hit one of the restaurants in Fayetteville or Summersville that are in the binder the owners put together, CALL FIRST. Fortunately we did and the first 2 we called were closed--and apparently had been for quite some time. Thanks Confluence Resort! We'll be back!"

  • Thank you for a beautiful week end.

"We have been priviledged to stay at the Ponderosa Lodge numerous times over the years. Each time we've stayed the hospitality has always been warm and welcoming. The lodge is beautiful, comfortable, peaceful, and ideally situated in the mountains of WV. Each season has a particular beauty, and there is no better place to enjoy any season than at the lodge. We would highly recommend the lodge to any one."

  • What a Great Place

"My family & I had a wonderful stay. We filled the daytime with horseback riding and whitewater rafting and then in the evenings came back and rested in the hot tub and listened to the quiet sounds of the night. The town of Fayetteville was a quick drive, which made it easier to change and take a quick nap after rafting and then drive into town for Pies & Pints. Owner was very helpful before and during our stay to answer questions and help us feel "at home". Thanks again - our family really needed this! Darryl, Tammie, Darin & Clara"

  • Amazing Vacation!

"We spent two nights at Hemlock Haven in Bingo's Bungalow - it was immaculate! Our three teenagers enjoyed the game room, fire pit and hot tub and they didn't even turn on the TV. We went over to Hawk's Nest State Park (about 10 minutes away) and took tours of the New River and the New River Gorge Bridge. A great time, great accommodations and would recommend Hemlock Haven for a family or romantic get away!"
