  • FirstWVAVisit

"This was our first visit to Snowshoe so we didn't know what to expect. We were very pleased with this house. It was spacious, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The owner and rental company were pleasant and easy to work with. While the house was not located right in the heart of the village, transportaion was easily available at any time. I would recommend this rental property and would return."

  • Hands Down the Best Place I have Stayed in 25 years!!

"River House WV is by far the best place I have stayed in the last 25 years. I was looking for a get-away in the mountains with a short drive from where I live in Lancaster, PA. The two and a half hour drive was scenic and when I arrived at River House, I was greeted like I was a long lost friend of the family. The rooms are cozy, sunny and spacious and can accommodate singles, couples, families and can easily handle 8 people without being crowded. The gazebo out back served as my "breakfast room" where I enjoyed seeing deer in the yard and hearing birds of all kinds while I ate. There is a short walk down to the river where great fishing can be had and in the warmer months (also came here in July with friends) tubing down the river is an activity worth trying out. There is an ouside firepit for "singing round the campfire" and making smores. The flora surrounding River House provides fresh fruits during the different seasons. I took pears from several trees on the grounds and made an amazing pear salsa. Berkley Springs is an artsy town with plenty to see and do. Activities range from visiting local artisan shops to a used book store where I found several books I just had to have. Then since it was the first Saturday of the month, I had a card reading done by a local astrologer. There are organic restaurants to enjoy as well as other more traditional ones. One thing you will not find are fast food joints (thank heavens). I also relaxed by having a massage in town by one of the local massage therapists. All I can say about that is Ahhhhhhhh! Just what I needed. You can also partake of the Springs and get in them in the summer. There are also Roman Baths, so if you like your water hot, you can take a long muscle soothing soak. The restaurant I enjoyed the most (although it was hard to choose just one) is Panorama at the Peak. The food and service were impecable and the view overlooking the valley is amazing. As a Social Worker who needs to relax and unwind several times a year, this is the place I go to achieve that goal. An added plus for those who don't like to kennel or leave their dogs behind is you can bring your dog along. This magical place is for anyone, no matter their age. There is always something to do (if you want to) and there are many ways to relax too. The owners are amazing people who will bend over backward to make your stay a fantastic time. I am happy to say that I consider them friends and family. I highly recommended!!!!"

  • Family Vacation

"We have stayed at this property two times as we live out of state and have family in West Virginia. Both times we have found the home clean and comfortable. Views are picturesque and the owners are wonderful communicators. We would only stay here, when again in town....and would highly recommend the property to all!!! We have a wide range of ages too, that enjoyed it -- from my 83 yr old mother (she really appreciates the bars in the bottom bathroom shower) and then our two children under 13. All of us agree - it's a great stay -- oh and did I mention the comfortable beds!!"
