"This "For Sale" rental is 20+ years old, despite the image taken when it was first built. The fireplace doesn't work, and the owner said he won't invest money in a house for sale.
There is no hot tub, which is crucial for performance snow sports. There is one small bathtub in the house + 3 little showered bathrooms.
Most everything in the Kitchen is broken or falling apart. We couldn't cook unless we microwaved. The grocery store is 45 minutes away. It's a 30 minute drive [add $15 to parking at Silver Creek.]
This house is TOO FAR from the slopes, despite marketing.
The owner does not provide a lan line phone or working wi-fi password, so communications with the outside world was impossible because you can't get cell service anywhere. This would've been good to know ahead of time.
My nephew & family left very frustrated 100% because of the owner's lack of communications; we couldn't call make reservations, get the status of tubing, etc. When you're 30 minutes one way from it all, you NEED a working phone. And there's nothing but a gas station & real estate companies at the base of Snowshoe mountain.
All restaurants, food, etc. are at the top of Snowshoe - 30 minutes away. You need to take all backup gear, etc. with you; you're too far away to go back for anything you forgot due to the long drive. You're definitely away from the hustle and bustle...
There is a wonderful laundry room at the entrance for you to take off your wet gear & place it directly in the dryer, but there are no racks to safely set your ski's or snowboards. The owner wants you to leave those outside apparently, but this wasn't communicated anywhere.
There is NO communication from the owner. He never provided the wi-fi password despite my requests for it upfront. He was on vacation and unreachable during our stay. When he finally answered my email messages, he responded "Call me with any questions". Are you kidding me? And how does one make that phone call? He doesn't provide a LAN line. There is NO cell service there. So how precisely does one call the owner with questions? It's unprofessional to not answer phone calls or email messages."

"I've stayed at Snowshoe twice with my family and this condo is a SUPER 3 bedroom value. We have 2 teenagers-boy and girl, so each had their own room! The only thing they were outspoken about was the internet which did tend to be on the slower side- but that's something you will find throughout all lodging on the mountain. The master bedroom and master bath are HUGE. The master bath has a double sink. Haven't seen that option in many condos old or new. I've stayed at many ski resorts and ski homes in the Northeast, Colorado, CA and British Columbia so, I feel qualified to say this condo is an excellent option if you need a 3 bedroom that won't break the bank! The decor is cozy and updated and offers more square footage and bedrooms and bathrooms then most other MORE expensive lodging options on the mountain. Yes, there are some fairly steep stairs that you have to walk up to or down from to get to the unit or to the slope but you can always take the shuttle which comes by about every 15 minutes. The stairs are a good way to warm up and or stretch after skiing! Take the money you will save on selecting this lodging option and go on a snowmobile expedition. The kids said the snowmobiling wins over ski-in-out!
The kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans and even knives that will actually cut. Rare for ski houses/condos. The living room has 2 sofas and chairs. Plenty of space for everyone! The gas fireplace operates with a push of a button. The rear deck offers fabulous views and deer come to visit. We had plenty of towels.
The owner was fantastic and returned our security deposit within a few hours of our departure. We would definitely recommend this unit and hope to rent again in the future!"

"My husband and I just returned from a stay at Oak Mountain Hollow. It was a beautiful, well appointed, very clean cabin. It is secluded enough to feel 100 miles from the real world, yet close enough to run out and enjoy historic Beverly or Elkins. Special treats were the hot tub and the lovely wildlife including deer and bunnies. It was also a relief to stay someplace with a fenced in area for our dog to enjoy. We will definitely make this an annual or bi-annual destination for relaxing and recharging."
