  • Nice weekend at Treetops, Cacapon State Park and Berkeley Springs

"My husband and I, with two other couples, chose Cacapon State Park for our annual hiking weekend destination and we rented Treetops Cottage. The house was comfortable and clean with lots of seating area in the living room and a wonderful wood burning stove, with lots of wood provided. There was a large deck and screened in porch area also. The kitchen was relatively small but well-equipped and totally adequate. We all slept well in comfortable double (or larger) beds. The owner was extremely responsive through the booking process and answered all of my many questions with almost immediate email responses and phone calls. What we most appreciated was that because the house was not booked immediately before and after our stay, the owner gave us great flexibility in check in and check out times, which amounted to our having almost a full extra day to enjoy the area. Very generous! and made the weekend feel much less hurried. There was great hiking in the park (about a 10 minute drive from the house) and several of us went trap shooting for the first time ever at the park (reservations are a good idea). We had never shot before and the instructor, Arnold, was outstanding-- extremely patient, knowledgeable, helpful and good-humored. Enjoyed dinner in Berkeley Springs (also about 10 minutes drive from the house) one night at Cottage Inn/ParkView restaurant and all of us (including the vegetarians) had good meals. The staff there was most accommodating as some in our party wanted to watch a particular football game, so they willingly adjusted the TVs to our preferences. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our stay, recommend the house, and look forward to returning in the future."

  • Nice retreat!

"All in all out stay was good. The property was nice and serene. I would recommend bringing firewood as there was none there and finding some close by would be difficult. The river is visible from the house, however, access is a walk down the road. There is a nice campground/recreation area down the road that we took advantage of. If you are interested in taking in some West Virginia this is a nice place to stay. I would also recommend bringing some linens and pillows. Also, if you will be arriving after dark, it would be advantageous to ask for a light to be left on as it is dark. I would definitely recommend."

  • Excellent Value/Close to everything!

"I've stayed at Snowshoe twice with my family and this condo is a SUPER 3 bedroom value. We have 2 teenagers-boy and girl, so each had their own room! The only thing they were outspoken about was the internet which did tend to be on the slower side- but that's something you will find throughout all lodging on the mountain. The master bedroom and master bath are HUGE. The master bath has a double sink. Haven't seen that option in many condos old or new. I've stayed at many ski resorts and ski homes in the Northeast, Colorado, CA and British Columbia so, I feel qualified to say this condo is an excellent option if you need a 3 bedroom that won't break the bank! The decor is cozy and updated and offers more square footage and bedrooms and bathrooms then most other MORE expensive lodging options on the mountain. Yes, there are some fairly steep stairs that you have to walk up to or down from to get to the unit or to the slope but you can always take the shuttle which comes by about every 15 minutes. The stairs are a good way to warm up and or stretch after skiing! Take the money you will save on selecting this lodging option and go on a snowmobile expedition. The kids said the snowmobiling wins over ski-in-out! The kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans and even knives that will actually cut. Rare for ski houses/condos. The living room has 2 sofas and chairs. Plenty of space for everyone! The gas fireplace operates with a push of a button. The rear deck offers fabulous views and deer come to visit. We had plenty of towels. The owner was fantastic and returned our security deposit within a few hours of our departure. We would definitely recommend this unit and hope to rent again in the future!"
