  • Good Experience

"Four of us went on a late season 3-day skiing trip to snowshoe last week and used VRBO to get hooked up with this place. Owner was very friendly and helpful and did exactly what she said she would do in every circumstance. She even bought a new crock pot and took to the unit when we asked if one was there. We used paypal to make our financial transactions and everything went very smoothly. We were on a budget and took most of our food with us to avoid restaurant expense. We had everything we needed at the condo to prepare our meals. The hot tub was just a few steps from the condo door. There were both bunk beds and a sofa/bed. Nothing fancy but everything was perfectly adequate and exactly what we were looking for. We had a short walk to green slopes all the way to the ballhooter lift to go to the village. At the end of the day come back up Soaring Eagle lift and only a short walk back to the condo. It's possible to walk to the village from there but probably best to wait for the shuttle which comes by every 30 minutes or so and comes right to the door at Snowcrest. In summary...pleasant experience dealing with the owners and we got everything we expected and more. We have been to Snowshoe several times before so we knew what we were getting into and decided a less expensive price and a hot tub near the unit was better than paying more to be nearer the village but having to walk a distance to a hot tub. Thanks for a good 3 days."

  • Great Condo

"This unit was great, right next to stairs which let out to the slopes, from room to skiing in about 1 minute. The room was clean and seemed well maintained, full kitchen with dishwasher was great since we ate there most nights. Also right across the street from the village with shops and restaurants, which was a bit improvement over staying at Top of the World. However, the Ballhooter lift gets very crowded so I would not recommend staying there, however you can get anywhere on the mountain from the top of that lift. Overall we were very happy with our stay."

  • Well-appointed, clean and cozy

"Our family of five (including our 4-legged furry one) had a great time! Easy access to mountain but quiet and relaxing at same time. Thoroughly enjoyed being able to cook all our meals with every possible cooking item provided. Owner was super hospitable and checked in during stay. The jacuzzi next door was an extra amenity that really added to stay. Condo wonderfully equipped with everything needed to make you feel at home. And the awesome price doesn't hurt either!"

  • Soaring Eagle was great!

"Better than expected 4th floor condo in secure building with underground parking. The views from the 4th floor balcony were amazing! 2 bedrooms both with plush King beds and 2 full bathrooms, one with a soaker tub. The condo was VERY CLEAN and very tastefully decorated. The only thing that kept it from being perfect was no wi fi, and no tv in the 2nd bedroom. It was also a short bus ride from the center of town, which is where all of our events were going on, but the Snowshoe shuttle was conveniently out front. Will definitely repeat. Thanks"

Snowshoe Travel Tips

Almost Heaven! West Virginia’s Snowshoe Resort

John Denver said it best, West Virginia really is ‘almost heaven.’ This stunning state is home to the Snowshoe Resort, in the heart of the Monongahela National Forest. Snowshoe vacation rentals are situated at the summit of Cheat Mountain in Pocahontas County, within easy reach of city of Marlinton and just 3.5 hours drive from the state capital city of Charleston.

What to Do Near ‘Heaven’ – Snowshoe, WV Lodging

A year round paradise awaits travelers, with its wealth of great outdoor activities within easy reach of your choice of Snowshoe condos.

During the winter months, the area is an obvious location for skiers of any ability. The 60 trails and 14 lifts to access the slopes provide a wide variety of skiing with plenty of options to suit beginners and advanced skiers alike. The four parks, Spruce Glades, Powder Monkey, Mountaineer and Timberjack, provide some of the best skiing in the region. The parks also offer a great adventure for snowboarders, and are well equipped for disabled skiers. There are over 11,000 acres of wilderness for snowmobiles with guided tours, including a spectacular evening tour of the Basin and an advanced ride through the backcountry.

If you have ever wondered what it takes to create the great conditions for winter sports, the resort offers a unique opportunity to jump aboard a Snowcat Tour and discover how the staff works to provide visitors with great grooming and learn more about the history of the mountain. The adventurous might like to swap the skis for snowshoes and take an outing into the backcountry and make your way up to Sunrise Backcountry Hut, the Fire Tower or the Airport Runway. The views of the distant Blue Ridge Mountains alone are worth the hike! Families at Snowshoe lodging will find a visit to the Coca-Cola Tubing Park with its six-story tubing hill a great outing for children. Or, there is the Split Rock Pools swimming hole that can entertain the kids with its geysers, slides, and indoor and outdoor swimming while the grown-ups relax in the hot tubs.

Having wintered here, you will want to come back to discover what more Snowshoe has to offer during the warmer months and you will not be disappointed. During the summer the area offers great outdoor activities, including some of the best mountain biking in the country with 20 trails and 1500 feet of vertical decent. When you need a break from pedal power, take to the dune buggies or hire a motorcycle to get a real buzz. Or just grab your clubs and head out to Raven Golf Club, ranked in the top 30 in the country. Then there’s the fishing, nature walks and plenty more activities to pack into your vacation.
