"Soaring Eagle is by far the best place to stay at Snowshoe. Great ski in/out facility with heated lockers. Located at South Mountain and just far enough away from the village. Our rental this year was spacious, maintained and well appointed. The little extras made for a special trip ... Keurig with supplies, candy drawer, boot/glove heaters, board games and spice rack to name a few. Also, a huge plus is the underground parking facility on site. Very nice when loading and unloading the luggage."Guest: BunkyJ Date of Stay: February 2014 Review Submitted: February 19, 2014View listing
"Wow! What scenery! The view was magnificent, and there was plenty of hiking right on the property. The cabin was exactly like the pictures only better. It was spotless, extremely well stocked and of course cozy and comfortable. We enjoyed sitting on the wraparound deck drinking our coffee each morning and looking out at the mountains. The owner was more than accommodating and provided us with all the essential information that we needed for our trip. If you are a hiker the Monongahela National Forest is close by, loaded with challenging trails and interesting history. The Greenbriar River Trail is also a great place to hike. After hiking, it was great to come back to the cabin and relax by the fire. If you are looking for a relaxing, secluded getaway with magnificent scenery, Moose Lodge is the place to go!"Guest: Jo-Lynn S. "We recently stayed in this unit with our two boys and their families--there were ten of us. The four cousins ages 8,6,6, and almost 4 loved the bunk bedroom. The three adult couples were very comfortable in the other bedrooms. Loved that all of us could eat together at the large table which was also good for game playing. The large living room was a great gathering place. We were amazed at how well the place was stocked--there was every pot, pan, dish and utensil you could possible want. We have rented a number of houses for our family outings , many of them high-end, all over the country and none has been as well stocked as Shamrock 77. LeEllen was extremely helpful and great to work with. We would definitely stay here again."Guest: dragonfly Date of Stay: December 2013 Review Submitted: January 12, 2014View listing
"This was our first visit to Snowshoe so we didn't know what to expect. We were very pleased with this house. It was spacious, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The owner and rental company were pleasant and easy to work with. While the house was not located right in the heart of the village, transportaion was easily available at any time. I would recommend this rental property and would return."Guest: LindyLu Date of Stay: December 2013 Review Submitted: January 8, 2014View listing

Almost Heaven! West Virginia’s Snowshoe Resort
John Denver said it best, West Virginia really is ‘almost heaven.’ This stunning state is home to the Snowshoe Resort, in the heart of the Monongahela National Forest. Snowshoe vacation rentals are situated at the summit of Cheat Mountain in Pocahontas County, within easy reach of city of Marlinton and just 3.5 hours drive from the state capital city of Charleston.
What to Do Near ‘Heaven’ – Snowshoe, WV Lodging
A year round paradise awaits travelers, with its wealth of great outdoor activities within easy reach of your choice of Snowshoe condos.
During the winter months, the area is an obvious location for skiers of any ability. The 60 trails and 14 lifts to access the slopes provide a wide variety of skiing with plenty of options to suit beginners and advanced skiers alike. The four parks, Spruce Glades, Powder Monkey, Mountaineer and Timberjack, provide some of the best skiing in the region. The parks also offer a great adventure for snowboarders, and are well equipped for disabled skiers. There are over 11,000 acres of wilderness for snowmobiles with guided tours, including a spectacular evening tour of the Basin and an advanced ride through the backcountry.
If you have ever wondered what it takes to create the great conditions for winter sports, the resort offers a unique opportunity to jump aboard a Snowcat Tour and discover how the staff works to provide visitors with great grooming and learn more about the history of the mountain. The adventurous might like to swap the skis for snowshoes and take an outing into the backcountry and make your way up to Sunrise Backcountry Hut, the Fire Tower or the Airport Runway. The views of the distant Blue Ridge Mountains alone are worth the hike! Families at Snowshoe lodging will find a visit to the Coca-Cola Tubing Park with its six-story tubing hill a great outing for children. Or, there is the Split Rock Pools swimming hole that can entertain the kids with its geysers, slides, and indoor and outdoor swimming while the grown-ups relax in the hot tubs.
Having wintered here, you will want to come back to discover what more Snowshoe has to offer during the warmer months and you will not be disappointed. During the summer the area offers great outdoor activities, including some of the best mountain biking in the country with 20 trails and 1500 feet of vertical decent. When you need a break from pedal power, take to the dune buggies or hire a motorcycle to get a real buzz. Or just grab your clubs and head out to Raven Golf Club, ranked in the top 30 in the country. Then there’s the fishing, nature walks and plenty more activities to pack into your vacation.
