  • Perfect Ski Vacation

"I recently rented this property after many hours searching on line for just the right place. We had four separate families for 3 nights - for a total of 14 people (8 adults and 6 kids [ages 4-15)]. We thought the place might be a bit cramped but nothing could be further from the truth. The house is configured in such away to allow as much "together" or "alone" time as needed. The house is spotless and big. Kitchen has absolutely everything you can think of so not necessary to bring anything but food. Downstairs level is the "kids" area. Bathroom, bedroom and play area. There is room for 5 kids to sleep but we brought air bags and sleeping bags and the kids just slept anywhere and everywhere! They had a blast. The house is close to everything - all three ski resorts, grocery store, etc. About 5-10 minutes. Two garages and lots of parking made having 4 cars no big deal. Hot tub on cold nights was lovely. Lots of wood for the fire. Owners are very nice and made renting/paying very easy and answered all questions. No hassle at all. I was congratulated for my awesome find (by some very tough critics) and everyone insists we have to go back to the same place next year. Worth every penny. I think it would be great during any season...I may add a summer and/or fall trip this year for mountain biking/hiking. It is great for any type of vacation."

  • Happy Father and daughters

"Had a great vacation with my two daughters. Comfortable room. All the necessary amenities. Even a calling card to make outgoing phone calls. No cell service. It was great to get away from email and contact and focus on ourselves and skiing. Location awesome. Thirst? Hungry? Right by lift. easy in...easy out. great for talking breaks, getting snacks, and drinks. Village nearby. ( shortcut through the snow!) easy bus transfer to night skiing at silver creek. Will be 1st choice when we return!"

  • As Advertised and Better Than Imagined

"When I first found this property on VRBO, I was intrigued with the seclusion and access to the National Forest right from the back of the property. We love to hike and being able to access hiking trails from the property was very important to us. The Lodge is definitely secluded but you can still drive less than 20 minutes and be in Hillsboro (a small town). The Lodge itself is stocked with all that you need to have a great stay. It seems that prior guests have left behind certain kitchen items for the next guests which resulted in a fully stocked kitchen. 2 refrigerators made it convenient for larger groups like ourselves. The house has a great pot belly stove that keeps the Lodge at a comfortable temp. The Lodge has plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms. The owner, John, was very attentive without being intrusive. Since the Lodge generates its own power, he was very helpful in explaining how the house power is managed and we had no issues at all. A couple of phone conversations was all that we needed to figure everything out. He was always available if we needed him. We had all kinds of weather while we there. Sunny, rain, cold, warm and snow. Each climate offered something. We had 6 inches of snow one day and that made for a great day of snowball fights, igloo making and sledding. The views were spectacular and the sunrises incredible. We cannot wait to go back."

  • Happy Times!

"We rented the Happy Bear for the first time this past June. We were very excited to find the cabin not only beautiful but well stocked and clean. Most of my crew were fishermen and the location was perfect. I loved just relaxing & hanging out at the Happy Bear. We were also extremely thrilled to find out that AT&T cell service does pick up @ the cabin, which was the first cabin in the area we had service at. We have been renting in the Snowshoe area for the last 10 years. We are happy to have found the Happy Bear. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking. And there are plenty of beds. The 2 sided wrapped porch was so cozy to sit on in the evenings. We are already planning a Fall trip in October."
