  • Best view of the fall foliage

"Definitely a place we will stay at again and again. We cannot even tell you how much fun we had. We hiked down to the lake, toured the village, attended the Roadkill Fest, then back to the village for a BrewFest, had pizza on the little patio and so on and so on. Your place is absolutely beautiful. We have been running quite a bit lately with one chore/errand after another, so being able to have a weekend to ourselves was perfect. For the most part, we simply sat outside and allowed ourselves to be continually amazed at the changing of all the fall colors. We definitely hope to be able to do it again next year. Thanks once again for sharing your wonderful place. Rich & Tracy"

  • Great weekend getaway

"The location of the cabin was very convenient to all the things we wanted to do. The large deck was wonderful for our traveling party, as was the lay-out of the cabin. We had two couples and three teenage girls on our trip and the cabin was roomy and very user-friendly. Being able to bring our dog was especially appreciated as well."

  • Great Condo - Great Owner

"Great condo and great location. The owner is awesome to work with and excellent with communications. We left something important in the condo and he personally delivered it to a different condo when we returned the following weekend. Our trip was spur-of-the-moment and it worked well that he accepts one night rentals. We will definitely be back!!"

  • Cozy Condo with Easy Access to SLopes

"We rented the condo to stay close to friends renting a house at Sawmill. The condo had everything we needed. We cooked breakfast and lunch there each day with the fully equipped kitchen. We never ran out of hot water and we had plenty of room for the 4 of us. The condo is a 5 minute walk to the Soaring Eagle lift and the shuttle is quite convenient which we used to go to into the Village and also to ski at Silver Creek. We really enjoyed staying here and would stay here again!"

Winterplace Travel Tips

Winterplace Vacation Rentals Are Great Year-Round

The aptly named Winterplace, West Virginia attracts visitors for the amazing winter activities available here. It is conveniently located just minutes from Exit 28, Interstate 77 at Ghent or US Route 19. Winterplace lodging is found in a unique location, allowing for great skiing even when the heavy snow is falling. Once here, visitors find a continental climate of pleasant summers and generally cold snow-filled winters.

Winterplace Condos for Spectacular Winter Activities

Winterplace vacation rentals are in one of the best ski resort areas in the region. Here, visitors will find 27 trails on this 10,000-foot facility. There is also a popular snowboarding park with features like tabletops, gaps, hips and rails. It also provides some of the best tubing runs around, with several lanes and two super carpet lifts, meaning short lines for tubes. The lanes are long and tubers can fly over multiple bump and humps while rocketing down the hill.

Great Summertime Fun near Winterplace

Winterplace condos are close to a variety of parks that add to the vacation experience at any time of year. One of the main whitewater rafting areas is Gauley River, where visitors can experience some of the best rafting in the region with over 30 miles of river to travel. At Little Beaver State Park, visitors can enjoy over 560 acres of woodland and lake area. The lake is open year-round for hiking, biking and fishing. Anglers may catch bluegill, bass, crappie, channel cat and trout. There are 18 hiking trails, varying in length with some taking hikers over very steep terrain. There are picnic areas with playgrounds and other activities such as goecaching.

At the popular Pipestem Resort State Park, anglers will enjoy Long Branch Lake, Bluestone River and New River where stocks of species such as smallmouth bass and trout are maintained. On the lake and rivers, visitors can take paddle boats and canoes, or simply swim. There are two golf courses as well as over 20 trails for hiking, biking and horseback riding. At the recreation center, there is an Olympic-sized outdoor pool, indoor pool, tennis courts, sauna, game room and exercise facilities. Also here is the sky tram where many enjoy a five-minute trip over the stunning Bluestone River Gorge. An unusual feature of the park is its outdoor amphitheater where music events are held.

With 276 acres next to the New River Gorge National River, Hawks Nest State Park attracts many visitors who enjoy the water. Within the park, there are fabulous whitewater rafting trips and exhilarating jetboat rides. The jetboats race through the gorge but give visitors the opportunity to enjoy the ride and the views of the impressive steel bridge as the boats pass underneath. There is an aerial tramway from the park to the marine down in the New River Gorge. Of course, there are also some beautiful hikes here, taking visitors wandering through the forest and along the river.

At nearby Beckley is the Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine. The biggest attraction here takes visitors underground over 1,500 feet to explore an old coal mine, riding on "man cars," from the entrance through the old mining works and back. Above ground, visitors can learn more about the life of a mining community by visiting each of the exhibits, such as the Superintendents Home, Church, Coal Camp School, and more.
