  • Great Weekend!

"I picked this cabin for the great reviews and I have nothing different to say. This was a great value and Brian was very helpful. Its a perfect little getaway up on a little mountain. Great views, lots of hiking and most of all... peace and quiet. There was tons of DVDs, plenty to do and the perfect surroundings for our dog, Jerry Lee. I highly recommend and can't wait to return on day. Thanks for an awesome weekend, Brian!"

  • Great location, great condo!

"This is a very nice condo in a great location (overlooking the Silver Creek ski school and next to the tubing hill). The sleeper sofa was comfortable thanks to an areobed-type of mattress. The kitchen is small, but has everything you need to make a meal. We had breakfast and dinner in the condo. There is a washer/dryer and space to store ski equipment. The condo was very quiet - we didn't hear anything from our neighbors. We would definitely stay here again!"

  • As Advertised and Better Than Imagined

"When I first found this property on VRBO, I was intrigued with the seclusion and access to the National Forest right from the back of the property. We love to hike and being able to access hiking trails from the property was very important to us. The Lodge is definitely secluded but you can still drive less than 20 minutes and be in Hillsboro (a small town). The Lodge itself is stocked with all that you need to have a great stay. It seems that prior guests have left behind certain kitchen items for the next guests which resulted in a fully stocked kitchen. 2 refrigerators made it convenient for larger groups like ourselves. The house has a great pot belly stove that keeps the Lodge at a comfortable temp. The Lodge has plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms. The owner, John, was very attentive without being intrusive. Since the Lodge generates its own power, he was very helpful in explaining how the house power is managed and we had no issues at all. A couple of phone conversations was all that we needed to figure everything out. He was always available if we needed him. We had all kinds of weather while we there. Sunny, rain, cold, warm and snow. Each climate offered something. We had 6 inches of snow one day and that made for a great day of snowball fights, igloo making and sledding. The views were spectacular and the sunrises incredible. We cannot wait to go back."

  • Fern Creek 2 bedroom

"I totally enjoyed my stay at the Fern Creek Cabins. The wife and I would set on the porch in the early mornings and evenings and watch deer, turkey and even bear cross the property. Very secluded and secure, no problems with in and out traffic or lost people finding there way there. Excellent for "off the grid" vacation seekers. There is no cable(DVD player), no internet and limited cell service (wife had it, I didnt). The cabin is a large enough for two couples or a small family. Its a little dated but was excellent for rural vacationing. The outside area was very well maintained by the young lady grounds keeper. She was outstanding and very helpful. Lots of room for outside entertaining for even large crowds (10-20 people). Far enough off the beaten path that loud music and fun will not bother anyone, unless the other cabin is occupied. The two cabins are about 80-100 yards apart. The road in and out is a well maintained gravel road. No problems for 4 wheel vehicles but I would only recommend experienced riders attempt it on a motorcycle. If you take children, there is little for them to stay occupied with except good old fashion playing. You are only minutes from the New River Gorge Bridge, downtown Fayetteville with nice eating establishment and evening entertainment. Walmart Super Center is 15 miles away for the things you may have forgotten to pack. Would recommend it????? I will attempt to go back sometime next year (subject to avialability). That should say enough."
