  • Sweet little get away

"We were 4 friends, looking for a nice get away, this was it, from the moment we walked in it took our breath away. It was so clean, well stocked and very nicely decorated even had the fall theme going. It felt warm and cozy, different from the crowed places we normally go. We rode motorcycles down, even though it was cold and rainy, it was always nice to get back to our warm cabin. The few things that made our trip the most enjoyable was the fireplace/wood provided and the hot tub, after a long ride it was nice to relax and warm up. Love that every thing was provided, so we didn't have to pack much.Shopping/things to do were very close. I would recommend this cabin to my friends, it was one of my favorite vacations. Will come back."

  • Great family weekend!

"This cabin is adorable and has all the comforts of home. Very comfortable and easily accessed. We arriived to over a foot of snow but the roads were clear and travel was not a problem. It is near the road but still feels remote without the difficult travel for a remote spot. We loved it and are thinking about visiting again next Fall."

  • Vandalia Vacay

"I just got back from a weekend at the Vandalia House in the Confluence Resort with some friends. What a wonderful 2 days we had. The house was immaculate and BEAUTIFUL! I felt like I was in an HGTV dream house! The beds were comfy, the kitchen well-stocked, the fireplace was gorgeous. It rained the first night, but no big deal, we sat around the large dining table playing board games, laughing hysterically and just enjoying each others' company. We got up the next morning, made a big farm-style breakfast, then headed out to fish and do some light hiking on one of the many trails. The area is so peaceful and stunningly beautiful that you can really commune with nature. We came back "home", got ready and went into the charming little town of Fayetteville where we ate dinner at The Secret Sandwich Society (YUM!). Great service, good food, good price! We went back to the house, sat around the campfire and talked about how much we were enjoying ourselves and how we'd come back to the Confluence Resort in a minute. If you go, you may make some new friends with an adorably friendly brown and white dog who loves to have his tummy rubbed before he goes back home and a beautiful, fluffy, friendly cat who hung out with us ALL NIGHT! He/she was still on the porch when we woke up the next morning! Don't worry about them, though. They both have homes nearby. The only "complaint" I have is that the directions we were given were incomplete. They end at the Patterson House, which is fine, if that's the house you rented. Since the road turns into all gravel and you see signs reading, "private property-no trespassing", you really wonder if you're in the right area, especially if you arrive near dark. A little disconcerting. Oh! And if you want to hit one of the restaurants in Fayetteville or Summersville that are in the binder the owners put together, CALL FIRST. Fortunately we did and the first 2 we called were closed--and apparently had been for quite some time. Thanks Confluence Resort! We'll be back!"

  • Beautiful Cabin and Surrounding area

"The cabin was very clean and had eveything you would need, the decor was a cute bear theme. Hap and Rhona gave us advise to points of interest and directions, they and everyone we met in the area were so friendly! Had a great view from our deck where we spotted a Bald Eagle as well as down in Smoke Hole area a must see area along with Blackwater Falls and Spruce Knob. There is a book in the cabin called " A Place Called Smoke Hole", about the people and area that goes way back, a very good read you can get a copy in Franklin at the Library. We just had a great time relaxing and exploring the area and taking in the breathtaking views, also pet friendly our little dogs Gismo and Shadow loved it to. Mike and Vicky Hiles"
