  • Great place to stay!

"Our stay at this rental was wonderful! The description couldn't be more accurate. The owner was quick to get in touch with us if we had any questions. He sent us suggestions and tips that were great! It is an easy walk to the village. You can easily catch a shuttle outside the leatherbark units if you choose to go further than the village or if you want a ride into the village. Top of the world has amazing views! The unit has everything you could need just bring along some food. From towels to linens and basic things like sugar, baking spray, baggies foil, and all the kitchen wear. Beds were comfortable and unit was quiet! We even fed the deer from the back porch. They ate right from our hand! Will definitely rent from him again!"

  • Nice weekend at Treetops, Cacapon State Park and Berkeley Springs

"My husband and I, with two other couples, chose Cacapon State Park for our annual hiking weekend destination and we rented Treetops Cottage. The house was comfortable and clean with lots of seating area in the living room and a wonderful wood burning stove, with lots of wood provided. There was a large deck and screened in porch area also. The kitchen was relatively small but well-equipped and totally adequate. We all slept well in comfortable double (or larger) beds. The owner was extremely responsive through the booking process and answered all of my many questions with almost immediate email responses and phone calls. What we most appreciated was that because the house was not booked immediately before and after our stay, the owner gave us great flexibility in check in and check out times, which amounted to our having almost a full extra day to enjoy the area. Very generous! and made the weekend feel much less hurried. There was great hiking in the park (about a 10 minute drive from the house) and several of us went trap shooting for the first time ever at the park (reservations are a good idea). We had never shot before and the instructor, Arnold, was outstanding-- extremely patient, knowledgeable, helpful and good-humored. Enjoyed dinner in Berkeley Springs (also about 10 minutes drive from the house) one night at Cottage Inn/ParkView restaurant and all of us (including the vegetarians) had good meals. The staff there was most accommodating as some in our party wanted to watch a particular football game, so they willingly adjusted the TVs to our preferences. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our stay, recommend the house, and look forward to returning in the future."

  • Awesome Group Trip

"This was our Group's second time coming to Snowshoe and I can say that it does not get much better than Hutch 8. The home had everything we needed and was the perfect size for our group of 10. The mud room was perfect for storing our equipment. The location is second to none with the ski in/ ski out to the western territory and walking distance to the restaurants/shopping. While we were there I believe we received like 26 inches of snow in a 48hr span which made the skiing feel like I was out West with all of the powder! It was probably the most snow I have ever seen on a ski trip and I have been out West five times. I would definitely recommend Hutch 8 for anyone thinking about coming and staying at Snowshoe. If we decide to come back we will definitely give Jeff a call!"

West Virginia Travel Tips

Seasons to Travel to West Virginia Cabins

West Virginia has four distinct seasons and residents often boast that each season is more beautiful than the last. The valleys and low-lying areas tend to have a milder climate with cool winters and pleasant summers. The central parts of the state and more mountainous regions are generally more temperate. The winter months are colder with heavier snowfalls. The summer months are pleasantly warm without being too hot. If you want to spend your time in the outdoors then summer and autumn are the best seasons to visit. The longer days and warmer weather provide ideal opportunities to enjoy your favorite sports. In general, the most popular time of year for visitors is during the months of July and August. If it is snow that you are looking for then you may need to wait until December and after the first snowfalls have cast their white blanket on Canaan Valley vacation rentals. The ski season generally runs from December through April, depending on the weather conditions. The peak season for skiing is during December and January.
