  • secret hideaway

"I am hesitant to write this because we really don't want too many people to find out about our special hideaway near Snowshoe. We spent Christmas week there this year and were welcomed by a house warmly decorated for Christmas and a plate of cookies and milk waiting for us. There were 4 adults and 2 children and we loved every moment of our week. We skied/snow boarded 5 days and rested for 1 day. My grandsons enjoyed the upstairs couch reading area as PapPap read chapters from one of his favorite books as a child. We put dinner in the crockpot when we left for the slopes and had home cooked meals every night. 30 minutes from the slopes was not a problem as we avoided the crowds and expense of a holiday ski resort while still enjoying a week off school and work to be together. Quality family time in a well loved home..Best Christmas present I could have given us."

  • Terrific Family Getaway

"This cabin is exactly as described! It's well located, cozy, clean and comfortable. The property manager sent us thorough and easy instructions for our pre-arrival, stay and departure. The kitchen was very functional and well stocked with everything we needed. The fireplace was great and the upstairs bedroom/loft was perfect for our boys (equipped with tv, dvd and gaming system). The cabin was very clean when we arrived and had plenty of space for 4 people + our dog (and dog crate). The Black Bear property and grounds are well maintained and an easy 10 minute drive to the Timberline ski area. The rental manager was also extremely accommodating and responsive to our emails and needs. I would highly recommend this property for a couple or family looking for a getaway with more space and amenities than a typical hotel."

  • Absolutely Wonderful

"I have been on vacations all over the world but when we arrived at Lazy Days, we were excited at the location, the beautiful acreage that it sets on, the cabin whispering, come on it! When we did, we could not contain ourselves for all the "oh my goodness" exclaimed in every room! Truly neat, clean, very comfortable feeling from front room all the way back to the master bedroom! Oh, I failed to mention the king, pillow top mattress that slept like a dream! The kitchen appliances were top notch from large right down to the coffee pot! Where do you go that offers an ice cream maker, a crockpot, every kind of pot and pan imaginable! Fireplace and Hot tub!! Wow, wow, wow!! The wildlife was beautiful with deer just standing and staring! The owners emailing to give us the snow report and what to expect to include sending a snow shovel. Wonderful people to work with!! Can't sign off without mentioning the very generous start up of dish and laundry detergent, paper towels, starter log, toilet tissue and Kleenex tissue in every room, salt, pepper, sugar, and on and on! You won't believe this but a nice turkey roaster and beautiful platter for our Thanksgiving turkey. They also offered a nice bottle of wine in a bucket just begging to be chilled! Can't forget all the books, games and DVD's! Everything was awesome and had more to offer than any place we have ever stayed! Thank you Eric and Megan for such a beautiful week! We will come back soon!"

  • Mountain Lodge Rocks

"For the money, you can't beat Mountain lodge. This unit was a nice 2br unit in the lodge. All units in the lodge are older and a little dated. So what? 3rd floor, right by steps to slopes! Owner was easy to work with. It's a hike from checking, but great after that."

Seasons to Travel to West Virginia Cabins

West Virginia has four distinct seasons and residents often boast that each season is more beautiful than the last. The valleys and low-lying areas tend to have a milder climate with cool winters and pleasant summers. The central parts of the state and more mountainous regions are generally more temperate.
