"We have always enjoyed staying at Rim Fire. This unit made our trip extra special because it faces west to sunset. Gorgeous!!"

  • Great place to stay!

"The ski in/ski out location made it super easy with kids and we had 4 great days. Loved that we parked the truck and could easily ski, walk or shuttle everywhere we needed to go."

  • Cozy stay

"We really enjoyed our stay at Spruce Run Lodge. Although there was no snow (even though we were there on Christmas Day!) we had fun relaxing by the fireplace and sitting in the hot tub. The cabin was exactly what we were looking for. A few days with our kids (and dog) without cell phones gave us time to talk, play games, cook dinners, watch Christmas movies and just hang out together."

  • Stemwinder

"Had perfect accommodations at Stemwinder at Snowshoe with three families. Accommodations were exactly as advertised, and perfect for 5 adults and total of 6 teenagers. Kitchen was awesome and plenty large enough for our party of 11. Large capacity fridge, freezer, large dining room table. The "game table" was well suited for the 4 teenage boys to have meals while the rest of us enjoyed meals at the large dining room table. Probably the best accommodations I have had as far as the 4 sofa arrangement. Plenty of room for the adults to gather in front of the fire place, and the kids to hang out in other area of living room with large TV. All other units I have enjoyed are usually short on sofa space. The beds were very, very comfortable; bedrooms large. Can not beat the location, true ski in/out and very short walk to the Village. Bus stops for shuttle to Silver Creek very close, and walk across the street to Western Territory. I hate to share my good review because someone else may try and book for my same time next year! The unit was very clean, comfortable and great views from the many windows. Very open floor plan. There are two full baths upstairs which were shared by all. We did banish the teenage boys to the downstairs half bath which helped. Enjoyed meeting Kip when he stopped by to check on things and to be sure that we were comfortable. Have been staying in Snowshoe and Silver Creed for past 6 years and no one can beat Kip's check in/out procedure. Best accommodations I have had and will definitely return."

West Virginia Travel Tips

Seasons to Travel to West Virginia Cabins

West Virginia has four distinct seasons and residents often boast that each season is more beautiful than the last. The valleys and low-lying areas tend to have a milder climate with cool winters and pleasant summers. The central parts of the state and more mountainous regions are generally more temperate. The winter months are colder with heavier snowfalls. The summer months are pleasantly warm without being too hot. If you want to spend your time in the outdoors then summer and autumn are the best seasons to visit. The longer days and warmer weather provide ideal opportunities to enjoy your favorite sports. In general, the most popular time of year for visitors is during the months of July and August. If it is snow that you are looking for then you may need to wait until December and after the first snowfalls have cast their white blanket on Canaan Valley vacation rentals. The ski season generally runs from December through April, depending on the weather conditions. The peak season for skiing is during December and January.
