"The location was just as advertised. Property outside was well maintained and clean. The inside was fairly clean too. The place was also extremely spacious inside and outside, which was great for any larger group like ours. There were enough beds/couches for everyone. In addition, there is a non-pictured basement that has a nice poker table, including a poker set amongst other games to play. They had pots, pans and other cooking utensils for us to use. It was nice having all these amenities there already so we didn't have to worry about bringing as much ourselves.
The property manager was very clear about how she wanted the place maintained and how to maintain it. She was very prompt about payment/home information and easy to get a hold of. We had a young group of 20 people and we were all quite content with our stay. The only small issue for our young group was there was no wi-fi, so if that's something you factor into your decision the closest place with wi-fi is about a 30 minute drive away. Most of us were able to get good phone reception.
Our stay was relatively short, so we didn't get to get out to Castle Rock for the day or anything, but there are a lot of close by nice areas to check out as well.
Overall would recommend this location!"

"We just wanted to sat, this was the best place we've ever stayed from VRBO. Char called the next morning to find out how things were, and if we had everything we needed. The place was beautiful, homey, right on a lake, clean, and had plenty of everything we needed. I would definitely recommend this cabin to everybody. You won't be disappointed at all. Hope to be back someday. Thank you Steve & Char for sharing your beautiful cabin."

"We had 15 of us up at the house for 5 nights for my in laws' 50th anniversary celebration and had a great time!
+ Hot tub is huge and awesome and 4 feet deep at one end! We fit the whole crew in it and it kept the kids busy for days(!)
+ Games and the actual bar were great for adult lounging and even though several are coin-driven, it was still great fun. Didn't need to leave the house to feel like we were having a night out. Nothing like drinking too much out at the bar and then walking upstairs to bed :)
+ With 6 bedrooms and a million feet of deck, plus the semi-detached hot tub, even with 15 people, we kept losing folks around the house. Plenty of room to hang out.
+ Owners and caretaker were very nice and easy to work with
+ Lots of room for frisbee and the like on the yard
+ Constantly finding new widgets on the walls and ceiling to talk about
+ Within an hour of the Dells for a day trip
+Kitchen is well-stocked, but had no baking dishes. Bring yours. Fridge is a normal family size. We were concerned, with 15 people, but it worked out quite well
There aren't too many
+ Several amenities in the house will cost you extra $ if you want to use them--washing machine, electric coolers, games, bar ice maker, jukebox (although bring CDs, as there's a good stereo). I'd love to see a package deal put together for those charges with one $ charge. Or some sort of "pick two" for $X. I don't mind some extra fees for options, but hearing the "for an extra charge" so often during the booking process was off-putting. As it was, in 5 days we didn't pay for or need anything other than the slot machine
+ The upstairs screened deck is great, as each bedroom opens onto to it independently, but with the fall season starting, it had a lot of yellow jackets inside the screens. I'll let the owners know so they can check that.
+Grocery store is a 20 mile round trip. No fault of the house and totally navigable, but plan ahead."

"Eleven of us spent the weekend at the Castle Rock Retreat. It was a great experience! We are a group of friends that meet regularly through the year and spend this weekend together annually to plan the year ahead. This was our first time renting this property.
We found the layout ideal: several bedrooms, ample bathrooms, a generous kitchen and several common areas to use for dining, relaxing, smaller group conversations and enjoying the outdoors.
Our only challenge (we're all over 50) was in managing the sound and entertainment systems. We could've used more step-by-step instructions for moving the DVD, for example, but that was a minor issue.
It was a comfortable, beautiful and supportive place for our group and we hope to return next year."
