  • Awesome!

"My family of four stayed here for a week of summer vacation. Our children are 12 and 13 years old. The cottage is outstanding. The area is fantastic as well. We only traveled from Green Bay so we were vaguely familiar with the 'Chain of Lakes.' After being here the first day and kayaking on Spencer Lake and then taking our fishing boat over the Chain of Lakes... I am so glad we did not stay 'on the Chain.' The Chain is only five minutes away so it was easy to go and enjoy it... we rented a pontoon boat on the chain and swam off of it etc... but it was so busy and the lakes so crowded. If I had stayed on the chain even two days I would have been sick of it. Coming back to the peaceful Dragonfly cottage was much better. We also loved swimming in Waupaca at Shadow Lake in a city park called 'South Park.' The park had a huge raft with a high dive and slide in a natural lake with a beach. We spent a whole day there. We also spent a day at Hartman Creek State Park biking... Absolutely loved it. The cottage has everything and more. Great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

  • Perfect Family gathering place

"We needed a large place for family to gather for our daughter's wedding. A place to feel at home while being 1400 mi. from our home. This place is unpretentious, yet pleasant and inviting. A place where having small ones around does not put their parents on egg shells fearing they might break something. My only regret is that there was not more time to gather everyone for more relaxing and hanging out. But that’s how weddings go. The kitchen with its 2 islands and adjacent great room is probably over 1200 sq. ft in and of itself. Then there is still enough space throughout the rest of the house to ‘get away’ if you need a little more personal space. My only suggestion is that you bring your own portable sound system – we really needed some mood tunage! We had a number of great evenings hanging out on the deck - great place to be out doors and never be bothered by the bugs!"

  • Nice, REAL NICE

"We have rented several properties the past few years, this is one of the best STOCKED and CLEAN properties we have encountered. It is much larger and nicer in my opinion than the pictures depict. We stayed with our 2 granddaughters, 8 & 11, for 4 nights and their parents joined us the last night, we never felt crowded. We wished we could have a full week but more guests were coming in. The living room is spacious and includes a love seat, sofa, 2 recliners and lots of floor space. The kitchen was extremely well stocked with spices, coffee filters, cleaning supplies, a full size gas stove, full size fridge and dishwasher. There's plenty of cookware, dishes, silverware, cooking utensils and glassware as well as a pantry to put your groceries. The kitchen table easily fits 6-8. The bathroom/laundry room is stocked with plenty of toilet paper, towels and toiletries in case you forget yours. Not only does the bathroom include a claw foot bathtub but also a separate shower. There's air-conditioning, ceiling fans & a wood burning stove to keep you comfortable year round. There's a strong Wi-Fi signal, a big screen TV with every channel you can think of and a bookcase full of videos and games. Outside there's a fire pit (no need to buy wood, there's a HUGE wood pile), a basketball hoop and a full size Weber charcoal grill. The upper back patio has an umbrella patio set which overlooks the Little Yellow River. The front porch is covered in case of inclement weather with plenty of seating. You will also find a desktop computer if you need to connect with the outside world and did not bring your personal devices. The owner is very friendly and easy to work with. I was so pleased she expedited our last minute booking. She offered suggestions where to fish and directions to places for swimming and things to do. I would definitely recommend visiting the Necedah Wild Life Refuge and the Buckhorn State Park. It is about 45 minutes or so to the Wisconsin Dells which makes a nice side trip as well. There is a nice playground and picnic area in town. While we brought our own groceries you can find most anything you will need at the Dollar General and Kwick Trip. Fishing licenses are available at the True Value in town and bait is available at the Kwick Trip. If you are looking for a private, quiet vacation getaway full of old fashioned family fun, nature, near sandy beaches for lake swimming, fishing and boating, this IS the place for you."

  • Our second stay was just as fun as the first!

"Our Chicago and Minneapolis friends (8 adults, 6 kids, 1 embryo) met in the middle again for a lovely, long weekend. We visited the Dells a couple of times, but otherwise just spent our time at the house. Kids loved the play set, hiking in the woods, and skipping rocks on the lake. Adults quietly relished the kid's movie time! Evenings at the fire pit were enjoyed by all. Once again, this was the perfect halfway point for our families to gather. Can't wait til next year when there will be 7 (or 8?) kids."
